so, what is the most money you have ever spent on a piece of equipment and what was it. i no this is off topic but it does have to do with tractors. but i am just wondering what the average money people spend on there most expensive equipment. the most i have ever spent was on a fully loaded bobcat 331 mini excavator and it cost me $42,000.

i am just curious what people are paying for some these big tractors we all see in some of your pics?

Jason, one piece of advice I can give for a new loader tractor is to have one with a power reverser, don't ask how I know.

- 1975 JD 1630 with 48 loader, new ballasted Firestones, and 750 hrs on engine rebuild for $9800 delivered 230 miles.
- package deal for $6000: NH 489 haybine; 258 rake; 276 baler; 455 sickle mower; JD 10' harrows; 3ph broadcast spreader; working original 1943 (my dad's birth year) Massey Harris 11 manure spreader.

- Somewhere in the future there will also be a 75+ hp MFWD loader tractor. Anyone got suggestions?

1999 New Holland TV140 - used - $47,000 plus another $15,000 for the equipment to use it. Gad - that's scary. Why did I do that?

Cub was 1200. A was 1400. 9N was 1100. Big ticket, non-farm was 2005 Ford 350 diesel at $36000. Ford was biggest discount 9800 off sticker end of season. Second new vehicle in my life. Shame on me. Everything else about 40 vehicles, second hand and cheap.

Went to a sale and watched some guy pay $4000 for an H with the tin missing and half the engine and all the tires were gone. No intake or exhaust manifold, no carb, no generator, no distrib, no wires. Block and tractor rear end, basically. I went home, didn't waste my time there.

Biggest check I've written so far for machinery was $1000 for my spra-coupe. Just today wrote the $500 for the Durascamp lift.

I think Dad has about $15,000 in his 1086 between the initial sale and rebuilding the TA, but both 4-150s came for right at $3000. Come to think of it, $3000 covered the planter and the Westendorf Loader too, and they were the best money ever spent IMHO.

Biggest checks I write are to the local elevator for fertilizer, seed, and chemical.

I'm a bargain shopping fool, 7710 Ford series I, cab/heat/air with Memo loader for $14,000 in 1997. My pickup was the most expensive thing though at $27,000 back in 2000.

i bought my 331 in 1994 in columbus ohio. it is crazy how much more equipment costs up there compared to where i live now in south carolina. i can buy a fully loaded,335, an even bigger mini excavator from bobcat for 40,000. but equipment holds there value alot more up there. but the last time i checked on a 331 for my cousin in ohio he couldnt touch it fully loaded for less than 50,000 it is crazy the way prices fluctuate between states

when did you buy your Bobcat ?? I bought a new 331 in 04 & paid $32,500 with [2] buckets & heavy duty trailer...have made a lot of money with that thing...on the other hand have spent $8500 building a JD unstyled "A" to pull with & it's still torn down in the shop & will take at least another 3 grand to finish...what a waste of money.... I haven't and will not buy one, but the new JD and CaseIH cotton pickers with the baler or module builder on the back are over $500,000 each. That's a lot of cotton pickin' money. The most I've paid is $37000 for a kubota M9000 4wd cab and loader. I paid $200,000 for my last chicken house.

$1800 for an EZ trail bale basket wagon, 3 years old. Worth every penny, saves me a ton of work. That's the most I've ever paid for a piece of farm equip. The best deal I've got was a Hesston 310 SP windrower for $600 in working condition.

I bought a Peterbilt 379 gravel truck new in 2006. I believe I paid close to $150,000 or so for it. Except for the price tag, I don"t know where I"d be with out that truck.

For machinery, $39,980 for an almost new Gleaner F in 1975.

For Farming in general, $101,000. We had an operating loan through PCA. We went to the local bank, took out a loan and paid PCA off. My dad later said if we had kept working with PCA we would have ended up broke.

Paid off the loan and still have the farm, but I had to get a real job to do it.

My son is an accounts manager for John Deere. The big sprayers he works with are $250,000 a pop!!! I cannot imagine farming for a living today the way things are.

Just curious, what is PCA?

Tried googling it, but I'm pretty someone in Missouri wasn't dealing with the Phillipines Coconut Authority!

Prodution Credit Association, they and Federal Land Bank were the forerunners to Farm Credit. Up until sometime mid 80's or so they were the primary ag lenders. FLB made real estate loans and PCA loaned for cows, equipment, and operating. Lots of folks, present company included blame the severity of the ag crash in the early 80s on PCA's lending practices.

"Production Credit" sounds vaguely familiar now, I was a young 'un back then, but I was a bit of bookworm who read a lot of magazines & brochures and such.

Does this count? $7,000 for a used mobile home in a trailer park- too much, but I didn't know it at the time. Most for an old tractor: $2,700 delivered. Man of means by no means.

So far the most expensive was the skidloader$22,000. My little "super 66" baler was $100, I bought a New holland 310 baler w/kicker and a metal throw rack for $1700, My IH 544D was $3200, my 46 H was $700, My oliver disc was$100, the ol IH 456 planter with fert box's was $75, NH #55 hay rake was $200, 2 kasten running gears were $100 each. Ol IH plow #60 3-14's was free. New Idea #217 manure spreader was free if I fixed it, I did. Just bought a big gravity box on westindorf(SP?) 10 ton for $800. I am small potaotes right now, but will grow as land becomes available. Been looking for a bigger tractor for 2 years now. Has a nice 1750 lined up for $3500, but now the gentleman hasnt called back to finish the deal. Pick up an issue of "tractor house", it's amazing what equipment cost these days, and how big they are. My uncle used to farm 1000 acres with 2 806's, a 706, a 300, and a super H, 715 combine. He took the buyout for the cows, decided the bar was the place to be on hot days. Now 1/2 the farm has been sold and whats left is rented by a person who's land he used to rent. Wow , that was waaaay more than you asked for wasnt it?
