so i have some friends at a local kubota dealership and there is a mid-size tractor there with a box blade and front loader. there is nothing wrong with it. it only has 75 hours on it. it has been gone through totally and the tires have been replaced. they only want 3 grand for it. i am going to look at it monday. so my question is. if it is a decent machine in a decent size that would be useful to me. so should i buy it if it interests me? the big question is i dont have a lot of work for a tractor but i am sure i can get work for it. so basically what should i do buy it or just forget it?

i have yet to look at it and the mechanic that went through it is one of my good friends and he said nothing is wrong with it except the exterior is pretty weathered from sitting out side. i am going to try and sneak out monday and look at it. i jsut think it would be something useful becuz right now i am renting equipment and only renting when i have jobs and when i have a small job i have to do it by hand so i thought maybe if i got a backhoe attachment for it, it would be useful to me digging electric service and retainging wall footers

Sounds like they found a major problem when they were "going through" it, and decided to just button it up and fire-sale it. I'd be leery. Probably got the new tires before they discovered the disaster.

This sounds real fishy to me. Like the other guys said if it has only 75 hours, why would it need new tires and a complete going through? And why is it only $3000, if the work that your friends say was done to it was indeed done, the dealership should be asking quite a bit more. Plus you say the tractor's a repo. Repossessioned tractors, in my experience, have generally been beat on and had a hard life, since the owners usually realize they are going to lose the tractor at some point. This means the tractors get abused and neglected in the time they are in the owner's hands. I would steer clear of this tractor.

Something wrong here. 75 hours? How about some details: brand, model, year, story about tires, story about hours, why only $3000, what does "gone totally through" mean? ANY dealer that has "gone totally through" ANY tractor would have way more than $3000 in it. Why would you not ask your friend more questions about this imaginary tractor, and this wonderful dealer? Post back the "real story". Tom

all the guy told me was that it had new agricultural tires. and it is a repo. so it might have had some crappy turf tires or something. but i will talk to him monday when i go to look at. i am thinking of maybe buying it and using it for a while. after using it a little bit selling it and buying a hoe attachment for my bobcat. but i am not sure just a thought.

THIS IS AN OUTSTANDING DEAL...if you don't buy it post the specifics so I can set something up.
I doubt the hours...but ANY TRACTOR with a loader brings 2x that out here. Ask about the tires ( maybe it had turf tires on it before?) and see what they tell you.

I agree with the other guy, Why would a tractor need new tires at 75 hours, did he run over a pile of nails and spikes? If you already have a tractor then forget about this one. Could be lemon or something.

Now - I believe you've answered your own question. You buy that thing, you ain't gonna do diddly squat with it.

Save your money for gasoline.
