Could've knocked me over with a feather to see this a few weeks back on a Sunday drive! This was erected sometime earlier this spring.

Not the best pics, partly because it's so darn big I couldn't get a good shot of it. Guess it's more interesting for showing that someone's making big investments in Connecticut farming still.

I'm guessing around 600 head. Cows in it currently are all young heifers and I didn't see a milk parlor...but they may just be waiting till the herd is approaching time to milk. I can't imagine it's just to raise replacement heifers.

The Slurry Store above ground tank for the manure is the first one I know of in my part of the state (seen them on the western side).

Kind of a nice view though with the old stone wall...the road is straight because it's part of an old Hartford -- Providence turnpike; this section of the turnpike had already be "bypassed" prior to 1830. Imagine all the farmers who've worked this land over the centuries.

Nice pictures.
Reminds me of the old saying " Big wife, big barn, never did a man no harm.

It took me four years but I finally finished this wall last month down in Voluntown. I went a little too high and wide with it. Oh well.....it kept me out of trouble.

A yankee In CT. I like how you replaced only the needed side boards on that trailer, waste not.

Yep, no overkill around here. And I only did that 'cause the stones were rolling out through the rotted old board.

Kestrel,

That is a fabulous looking wall. I not only can't imagine how much work that took, I also wouldn't dream of trying a project like that.

Bravo!

Yep.

Maybe I hadn't been up that road since last fall? You really don't see it from Route 44 unless you're looking, and no reason to go on the local roads there unless you're out on Sunday drive.

I know I wouldn't have missed it!

Nice shots.

In Michigan the gov't would come cut your trees sell/keep the wood along with the rocks, and claim your property was a hazard to motorists and you could be held liable.

Where in Michigan would that be? Around here, the state doesn't have much of anything to do with local roads, it's the county or other local government that has that responsibility.

Guess I should have been more specific by government I meant the county road commissions.

This has happened in Genesee and Lapeer county during the last couple years.
