my grandad used to have a homemade paddle or bee swatter if you will.kind of looked like a boat oar but wider paddle with holes drilled in it. he would spend a whole day at the tool shed ,stable,or tobacco barn he kept them under control pretty good. wish he was here to thin em out now they are pretty thick

Sevin kills all bees fast. Just mix some up in a hand sprayer and spray into the holes and spray coat the siding, eaves, whatever with a good coating and your bee problems will be over. Once they are dead I caulk the holes then spray paint the wood to keep them from coming back.

I've heard of using dishsoap and water, have yet to try. I've got a bad infestation of yellow-jackets(mostlty) and the regular black hornets. Try to stop them before they start every year but I am losing that battle again this year!

12 ga. deer slugs are the only way to kill bees.

I have not sprayed for them yet this year, but the poison seems to be working from last summer. They gnaw a while and then fall and die.

I used the same stuff as in the termite killer. forget the name, common stuff though.

Spray the hole with electro motive cleaner spray 10 seconds and all dead. when the out and about come back they die for 1/2 hour. Residual can be killed with a second effort. Wasps drop like small hail stones. JimN

I meant to add this last time here in south GA not only are the bees a big problem but so are the woodpeckers that eat the larva in the nest. last year the large woodpeckers ( about 10 to 12 inches tall) like to have destroyed my place getting to the larva, before I realized what was going on. I guess the one good thing Is I have seen a lot less bees this year. The picture also Questions the statement that painting the wood helps deter the bees. Larry

We are overrun with the things, and they are a real problem. We've got some older pole sheds that are riddled with holes and close to destroyed. I've sprayed in the past with Bayer Carpenter Ant/Wood destroying pest spray. It works for a little while, seems to drive the bees away for a week maybe, and then they are back. I'd keep spraying, but the problem is, with a hand sprayer, I'd spend all my time spraying. Maybe an orchard spray is the answer. Meanwhile, I pay my son 5 cents for each bee he kills, he uses a tabacco stick. I'm upto about 5 dollars this year. Oh yeah, my son plays baseball, and let me tell you, he can hit anything in the strike zone, and a lot that's not.

An old .22 cal. pistol loaded with rat shot schells works good too, when they stop in mid air you can tear them up out to about eight feet, a few feet further if you shoot mags.

My neighbor uses a tennis racquet. Sits on the porch and knocks them out of the air when they fly by.
