Is there any of this stuff that works? How much is needed to patch a 12/38 rear? One outfit had it and it is priced at about the same as a new tire and tube!!!

I"ve started buying tubless tires for all of my tractors. I put the green slime in the smaller front tires and implement tires but not the rear or fwd fronts. Last year I ran a deer antler through one of my front tires and it hasn"t gone flat yet. But like others have said most tire places don"t like it. I fix all my own flats and it don"t bother me.

I found a good cure for rim leaks [ tubeless ] tires. Let most of the air out, lay tire flat, go around bead with liquid dish detergent, let seep in, gently step on tire to slightly depress bead, allowing soap to penetrate, and seal.

Re-inflate, wash off, and check for bubbles.

Repeat on other side, this has fixed rim leaks in everything from car tires, to snow blower tires.

As a tire guy, I would never put it in a car or truck tire- moves around and impacts balancing, you'll definitely fell it. The only good way to fix a car or truck tire is an internal patch/plug.
That being said, I always run the green slime in lawn tractor and wheelbarrow tires that are prone to busting the beads when they lose air. The white Fix-a-flat junk NEVER seems to work, and makes a damn mess out of the inside of a tire that makes repair really tough. Most of the tubes I see leaking are from rim abrasion or valve hole abrasion- I always wrap the drop center of the wheel in duck tape and file the stem hole with a rat tail to clean it up before mounting tube types

mess is an understatement ,some bozo came into the shop about 25 years ago and said his car was shaking all over the road at hi speed . after cleaning out about 2 qts of slime from each tire and rebalancing the tires problem solved .

It depends on what part of the tube is leaking how big the hole is. If the leak isn't too big and located on the tread area of the tire and the tube has never had fluid in it then it should work. But if the leak is on the side wall or valve stem or too big or fluid has been pumped out then probably not. I like to use a gallon on a tire that size. The safest bet is to take it apart and fix the tube and check the tire. Sealer works better as a preventive than a repair.

It has worked for me a couple times. Last one was a rear tractor tire, wheel is about shot anyway. I figured I would take a gamble, as next time it is taken apart, I have to replace the wheel. That was last September, holding up fine so far.

I used fix-a-flat up till I found out it was eatin up my wheels. I now use Slime in my trailer tires. It works and so far isnt eating up my wheels. However, dont be surprised if, when you take a tire in to your favorite tire man to be fixed, he kicks you in the butt. My tire guy, last Thursday, told me to not bring another in with that stuff in it. Its a mell uv a hess to clean up!!!

That stuff is made to get you by but not for a long term fix. If it worked as well as they say it does then you would not have tire people making $$ fixing tires
