So you guys cant plant i cant find any freaking work. Oh, before i get into this let me tell you i am just ranting because no one else around here understands. I do just about anything and everything you can do with a skidsteer and mini excavator. Well so far this year I have been out bid by a really nice mexican guy but it is still aggravating on just about every retaining wall that has came my way. Another guy wants irrigation and he keeps telling me he wants it since last august and he will call me when he is ready to get it put in. So i call him i tell him that i have a little break in the most busy time i have had this year. ( six jobs in a row) but he thinks he can do it cheaper if he gets the plans to the engineer and orders the material himself. So ok i can deal with that well that was in Feburary. I have talked to him one time since then but the reassuring news is he still hasnt gotten the irragation from anybody else. But the worst thing is I only have six jobs lined up this month. really only three but i have to do the backfill on the pool and wire the pump. The only good thing is my other cousin finally found me a 3500 dodge because my 2500 chevy just isnt a enough truck for hauling the skidsteer. but the problem is this weekend have to put windows in before they replace the siding on my house. next weekend my partner in crime (dad) is going to the beach and the weekend after i have a pool backfill and memorial day weekend cousin is coming down, and the weekend after another pool backfill. so basically i have to wait until june to go get the truck if he can keep it around that long.

Sorry if it was really long just had to get it off my chest we all have to rant a little everyonce and a while

Sorry for your troubles. Hope things get better for you. James has mentioned I need to break the horses to drive. We may need them to plow and grow our own food.

If the deal on the Dodge falls through, I have a real nice Powerstroke upstate, but youd have to get it within the next week or so.

Used to be a joke that my "take home pay hardly takes me home." Not so funny any more. I spend close to $70.00 a week just to get to work and more if I have to go anywhere from there, which I try not to do. Sometimes I have to go to a contractor's office to view construction plans. Sure doesn't leave a lot left for many extras. Luckily, I'm old enough to tap my IRA if I need to. Larry in Michigan

It'll get worse before it gets better. For anyone born before 1965 Recession is just a word----until now.Last one we had as a country was in the late 70's early 80's.Stagflation was the word then and probably will be what this is which means rising prices and slow economic growth or contraction. Its the end result of a lot of excesses like overbuilding, overusing oil,too much credit both public and private,
playing too much while we should have been working etc

Morning; Maybe you meant born AFTER 65? I dont remember the word "stagflation" but do remember living better than some because we were farmers. could sell milk, just cream. Drank gallons of milk and fed it to anything that would drink it, poured the rest on the ground. Plowed with horses and wore hand me downs. I remember hard times- victory gardens etc. 30's and 40's era. Have a good day; Bob

IIRC, you are from SC.. What part? There is very little economic activity going on at the moment. Folks are putting all their $ in the fuel tank, and are scared to spend the few dollars left over, if there are any. 5 years ago, I was working 6 or 7 days a week in our machine shop, and turning work away.. It died off about 2 years ago, we just closed the shop.. What few potential customers we saw were bottom feeders. I actually had one big Co. come to me, said they we looking for shops that would do free work !!! Folks all want something for nothing these days.. Real sad what has happened to people..

Sorry to hear of your troubles! I am facing a remodeling layoff-who would have thought? When new houses aren't selling, people often remodel what they have, but not this time. Oh well. Greg
