So, I went to the local MF dealer to get parts for the 175. Nice people there. I made a joke about being tired of working on old equipment. Out the office comes a nice guy I went to school with saying I was making a good point. Before I knew it, I was driving a 2007 583 around the lot on a test drive! It was nice, actually had working brakes and a canopy. Other than the tin, it looked alot like a 175, the axle and all. According to tractor data, has over 10 more hp at the pto and a little heavier. Engine had a nice crisp bark to it. Said I could take it out the door for $19k. And, Massey would would tote the note for 3 years @ 0% interest. I"m figuring I could sell the 175 w/ 3000 hrs for $5000, the bass boat for $8000, and have myself a fine tractor with minimal financing. I gonna buy some nice gold earrings for the wife on the way home tomorrow and ask her for permission. Wish me luck!

You're going to buy a 19K tractor and ALL you're getting your wife is a pair of earrings? (giggle, giggle) Do the math and make sure the deal is a good one for you in the long run. Best of luck.

Man for a 19 K up like that I would be a nice guy you went to school with. I went to a dealer yesterday to follow up on a tractor I was thinking of, I had never met the salesman, after introduction he just sat there, didnt want to go look at the equipment, nothing. Talked to the inventory/gal friday and bought from her. While writing it up he walks in and says he will take over, I said if you get one cent of my money the deal is off. Called the owner, I go to church with him, and explained, he assured me the salesman would not get any commision. Made the deal. I'm happy, wonder how he feels?

I bought a pair of 583's back in December for a mowing business. They're just now starting to log hours, but we used them enough already to know I like them. (LOVE the cabs!) They AREN'T 400 series tractors, so I don't understand what that comparison is all about. Quality and reliability with the 500 series seems to be as good as anyone's products. I like the 100 series tractors, but there ain't nuthin' like NEW!

Terms of 0% financing means paying full retail list price. Since you're looking at a sizable down payment (tractor and boat) ask about "cash & carry" price w/outside financing on balance. You MIGHT end up spending quite a bit less.

It is too bad that the MF dealer (40 miles from me) couldnt sell me a compact MF tractor, so I bought a JD compact. I got the BS from Cub cadet too. If these yahoos want to complain about sales just look at the stupidity of the dealers.

SELL YOUR bass boat!?! Man, that hurts. I would suggest you look at the tag on that 583 and see where it was made. Then, go over to the Massey board and here and search for the 400 series problems, you might be surprised. I think I"d hold on to that 175 a little while longer(opinion).
