Got home from work yesterday and disked cornstalks. I got started on the 17th and then rained out till now. Guy across the road was putting on NH3. Not much planted here in Rock Island County, Ill. Calling for rain late today and thru the weekend. Chris

I got the garden plowed and disked, but I'll have to disc it again and run a spike harrow over it again before I plant. I disced in some seed in a couple of patches in the hayfield too.

my corn is in already, went in last week, most of the other guys got theirs in too. north central il. hit the bean ground with the field cultivator once, gonna need one more pass to level it all up, then that will be ready to plant.

Sure hope we get some moisture this time here in NE Colorado. 82 degrees yesterday with red flags for fire danger. Even the wild mustard is dieing and lawns are bad. Wind last night blew lawn chairs across yard.

Hey Ken, think one of your lawn chairs may have ended up at my place...just kidding, but I did see plastic gated pipe 1/2 mile away from the line this morning...and snowing now, we will sure take it, ground was getting dry...wheat was needing some moisture.

Very little goin' on here(SE Minn).Anhydrous tanks are going by heading south.Real sandy soil to the south of me a few miles,so some planting there.

We have pretty heavy soil,so ground is still too wet. It'll happen! Stay patient!!

Getting to be a little late for the oats and wheat we want to seed.Shoulda had them in a few weeks ago.Danged lawns are sure green though.....

third party image Right or wrong I am still waiting. Lots of work going on in the last 1 1/2 days. The ground temperature was 44 yesterday morning. The ground conditions are marginal in most places much worse in others. Like gary said the rain is supposed to be here overnight and stormy weather all day tomorrow. It is horrible waiting but I feel that the risk is just too great. If the weather stays bad and I cant plant for 2 weeks I will have made the wrong decision. If the weather clears the first of the week or even better we miss this next rain I will feel pretty good. Only time will tell. bill

I'd be waiting if I were you. If you put the seed in now and it remains cold, your germination rate won't be very good. Without the population, you'll most likely loose more yield than if you loose some growing degree days.

Bill,

There is a massive front with colder temps coming across in the next few days; will probably be in your area by the weekend.

I'd sure leave 'em sit in the shed also. That expensive seed isn't gonna rot in the bag. :>)

Looks like bad weather is coming. But, I always remember what my grandpa said--"it won"t grow in the bag". Guess you just have to figure out your risk threshold!!
