Looking to see if anyone knows can the alternator be rebuilt on a 650 John Deere 2cyl diesel built by Yanmar. Or does anyone know of anyplace to find a good used replacement. The light stays on under 1000RPM so its only a matter of time before I have no charge at all. Thanks for the help.

Nothing in there but a magnet and a winding and some bearings. I think it can be tested. Those also had troubles with the voltage regulators on the fire wall. I think that may be your trouble as ours did that and the new regulator was different than the original.

Take a look at the electrical connector(s) in the alternator/rectifier/regulator area.

I can't recall EXACTLY what the setup is there, but the connectors often melt, causing weak charging, or no charging at all.

Take a look in that area and post back!
