The formula works, i use it estimating electrical work alot. If we do any custom baling this year it will be 2.00 plus per square, and 18 plus 4X5 rounds. the days of buying 2 dollar hay and making custom bales for 12 dollars are gone...FUEL, EQUIPMENT, TWINE OR NET WRAP, TRACTOR, BALER, HAY RAKE, TIRES. If you can pencil it cheaper, PLEASE i beg you, let me know how!!!!! !!!!

For cutting, raking and baling I got 1.50 last year (wire tied bales).
Figure this year going to be 1.75 to 2.00 a bale this year all depending on fuel and wire cost.

With those prices you might just as well stay home.

i've done custom before. with the price of twine and fuel being up make sure you've got your costs covered. $.65/bale for baling and stacked on rack is a good start

fuel+twine+maintnance+labor+mileage for you to get there. figure what it will cost to do the job + make a little profit for youself and divide by 300. If you have neighbors like mine that would give you the shirt of their back if you asked them then you already know what to charge, if not, see above formula, With prices the way they are now you sure dont want to get the job done and think to yourself, why did I just have to pay to do that job that I was supposed to make money off of? Just my 2 pennys

I don't claim to be business smart but It seems to me that formula is gonna cause him to lose money.
