Hello:

What is the best vaccination to eliminate/remove pink eye in cattle? A regular 7 way or antibiotic like LA 200 won"t do any good will it? Just wondered what you"all do to treat it in your herd.

Thanks!

Usually a result of bacteria in dust. See if you can get "Terramycin -Pinkeye aerosol" a broad spectrum antibiotic for sheep and cattle.
made by Pfizer. If a bad case may have to stick a patch over the eye to keep the sun, dust and flies away. Individual Animals should be isolated.

Big 10-4 on that. The exact reason I sold my whiteface heard and went black. Course a couple of other reasons too but that was a big one. Course had baldies at times too and they all would have a black circle around the eyes on that white face which worked..... or maybe the genes kept it from affecting them.

If you can get them through a head gate you can effectively treat even advanced cases by squirting 3 cc's of pennicillian directly on the eyeball. You obviously don't use a needle, just the bare syringe. You have to hold the eyelid open to ensure you get it directly on the eye.Three to five days in a row depending on how advanced it is is plenty.Abit more labour intensive, but very efective and cost efficient.pd.
