What is the biggest plow ever made in # of bottoms. When I was kid in the 60's a family farm operation next to us had a Cat D9 with 2 JD 4 bottoms hooked together. These 3 brothers were the maga farmers of the day. Yet unlike today they got along with everyone . I got to ride along on the huge seat of the Cat and watch this amazing feat. We were all in awe as nearly everyone still farmed with M's and Super M's. The biggest plow otherwise in the neighborhood was a 4 bottom pulled by an R JD I believe.

Here in practical use, I have seen 8 & 9 bottom plows used regularly by the 4wd fellows. Have a hinge in the middle. I've heard of 10-12 bottom units, but our clay makes it hard to get traction, they tend to be 50 miles or more away in lighter soil. Can be 16 to 22 inch bottoms, so one 9 bottom plow doesn't always equal the next 9 bottom plow....

Have seen a huge old steamer plow at a show, those were kinda skiny bottoms (12 inch?), but impressive none the less.

Biggest plow I've ever seen around here in actual regular use is a 12 bottom pulled by a big ol Steiger.

If you are referring to the demonstration at the Half Century of Progress show, two things to point out:
They were barely scratching the ground, and some of the bottoms were not even in the ground.
Just something to entertain the citidots and kids, not something that would have been used in real life.
