I wanted to know what the going rate is for building fence. After I built my fence my Neighbor down the road ask if I would build him some new fence. I don't have a clue what is a fair price to charge him . he wants 48" field fence with 2 strands of barbed wire at the top and one at the bottom to help keep out dogs. RR cross tie corners and T post.

you have Old fence pushed off and leveled off ground. 4 barbs with 4 steels and a wood with all your materials about 12 to 15 dollars per rod for straight running.

Thanks for the reply's I'am with chad you put in good post they last forever I use 3 tie corners with 2 7/8 pipe cross piece with a 12 barbless
wire X on each then a H brace every 300 feet and a single tie evey 150 feet and T post every 10 feet I build all my fence like this and they seem to last a long time oldest one I have is 21 years old and still in great shape the trick to good fence is to build it tall enough animals can't get their head over it or throu it.
thanks again Mark

I would not put in a railroad tie corner for anyone and any price. It will pull up/lean if the wire is really stretched. I will only use steel welded corners, 3 posts H patern with a slant down to 3rd post; called a kicker in these parts. Drill 9 inch holes 42 inches deep, set 2 7/8 thick-walled pipe in concrete. T-Posts every 10 feet, with steel pipe post in concrete every 60 to 100 feet. My fences start out tight and stay tight; pull 50 percent of tension kinks out of the net-wire. Tom

No railroad tie corners depends on conditions. We have RR tie corners (3 ties per corner, cross brace and diagonal wire brace) that have only be standing since Grandpa set them. And he died in 1977. Fences are still tight.

Let him pay for the materials and then charge by the hour for your time.
