Watch out for scam emails from guidamoss@gmail.com. Do not provide this individual any information.. Just cut and paste his email and search the website and you will see for yourself.. Read one of the links and check out all the other email accounts that are fraud. Anytime someone has a free email account it's always wise to double check it or find out more information about who's sending you information. Not all provider require Name,Address and #'s to setup accounts. Thanks

I have never figured out why anyone would respond to these messages. The IRS doesn't have email addresses for anyone. They don't email things to you. They also have all of your information on file. Anytime you are asked to provide anything, should throw a big red flag. Never click a link to open a web page from an email. Launch your own browser and type in the address. Gotta use some common sense.

I haven't received the IRS scam yet, but there's another scam with PayPal security stating my PayPal account is getting unusual credit card purchases. Like the IRS scam, a link is provided to verify the problem.

At first I was irritated at these scam emailers thinking I was stupid or greedy enough to fall for their come-ons (I am stupid and greedy, but not THAT stupid and greedy!) , but then I began to wonder: if they didn"t try to keep scamming me, would that mean I was absolutely insignificant??? Besides, I"d miss the Nigerians hilarious broken English...

The tipoff there is the IRS already has your SSN.

Yep, I just sent out a warning to all the users at my campus warning about a bogus IRS "refund" email.

It says the IRS has calculated you to get a couple hundred dollars of "refund".

It gives you a link to click on which looks like an official IRS page - but it then asks you for your SSN and a credit card to "send the refund to"...

They say "don't worry if the refund hasn't shown up in 6-9 days, there may be a small delay"...

ha...

Copied the details from your post and emailed to my office. Always good to get a warning and not have to learn the hard way.

Here are a screenshot of the message and the web page if you click on the link. I think the web site is actually located in Korea...

The crazy web addresses are a clue that it is bogus. So is the lack of HTTPS as a prefix.

Beyond that, since they probably grabbed the graphics off the IRS's real website, it looks fairly official...
