What do you call the hat the fellow on the left is wearing; can't come up with the name (CRS). That's my Grand-dad on the right with one of his brothers..... ..

Every body wore these caps in the 30s.Felt hats were common.Straw hats were in style before that.I still wear a straw hat in summer to keep the sun from burning my ears.I like an engineers cap when I can find one.Base ball caps with the plastic straps are worthless, makes a fellow look like a blue jay and bumping the bill makes them flip off.A boonie hat is best out in the boat, wont blow off.

I"ve worn them for many years (mostly during the winter) and have always known it as a "snap brim cap" after the snap that holds the top to the brim.

That's not a Tam, Tams don't have a bill in the front. They usually have a little puffy ball on top too.

Where I come from the " Button Down Cap" The person on the left is wearing was pretty much a common head covering of that era. . Some Models of that "Cap" had Ear Flaps for cold weather.I"ve owned and wore quite a few of these Caps in my 70 plus years. If I got busy I could find several of those caps stored away around here I"ll bet.

Greek fisherman's or newsboy's both sound right, but I'm not sure that's what I'm looking for; my family and I occasionally 'play' an e-mail 'game' based on pictures from our shared past. I posted the hat picture; was challenged and then couldn't remember the answer.
