Now that it is warmer out I took the C to a local plough day and when I got home and shut it off the radiator was making a boiling sound and some steam but the temp gauge was on bottom. It does have the thermal syphen cooling system. Any ideas or opinions on what to do or not to do. Thanks, Jeff

That is normal. With the thermosyphon system, the water will still circulate after shutting it down, and the heat in the head will keep heating the water for a while. Sometimes the temp guage will come up a little after shutting it off since you don't have the fan p[ulling air through the radiator to cool it.

if it doesnt run hot when you are working it, its prolly ok. my farmall b and cub will gurgle and steam some if you work em hard and then shut them off. the thermo-siphon is a non pressurized system and shutting down a hot motor will boil the coolant for a little while till the motor cools down.

You might also have your spark too far advanced makin' it run hot. BTDT.

C what??? Farmall, Allis etc makes a difference as to what the fix might be. If I had to guess I would say the thermostat is going bad or the cooling system is clogged up

Case IH dealer has a kit which puts a water pump on a C just like Super C. I put one on my C and A amd you can work them real hard and they never overheat now. Probably a radiator/block flush might not hurt either.

Now this may sound funny but if it doesn't have a thermostat in the system that can/will also make it run hotter then it should. When you said no water pump I had guessed it was a Farmall but asked any how. Oh by the way it doesn't take much dirt/rust in a cooling system to cause problems. I use a vinager flush on all of mine when they start running hot
