Fuel theft

My Diesel tractor seemed low on fuel (on the gauge) when I cranked it Saturday. It is parked out of sight from the house, road to the shed is right by the house and closely monitored, only one neighbor near enough to walk in and walk off with siphoned fuel. And perhaps he did not, maybe my memory for the gauge reading was just faulty. What I have done now is to use a stick to measure the fuel depth in the tank each time before I start the tractor and when I shut off the tractor and record those readings, in inches of depth, in a log book. I figure that within a month, I will know if the fuel is being stolen. If no theft, very good. If theft, on to Plan B.

Long range rifle and patience. You will at least get to see a sunset. Just kidding. (No I'm not.)

Fella I know had the fuel delivery guy pump his elevated tanks empty and had the diesel put in the gas tank and gas in the diesel. Figured out who was draining his tanks pretty quick...

One fella on this site said that he put 50% water in the tank and some dumba$$ took the 50/50 mix and his car stalled out down the road. You just gotta remember to drain out the 50/50 before you start it up again.

Diesel fuel and water will not make a mix. The fuel will float on the water. I hope the crooks do not pour water into my tractor tank.
