I have a case 2470,that has started pushing water out of the radiator vent. After i start the tractor, whitin 5 min it will sputter streams of water out of the vent. After app 6 or 7 hours it will lose app 3 or 4 gal and if i am not pulling it hard will not run hot. There are no external leaks and i have changed the cap and both thermostats. How can i find out if it's a head gasket or a head,or somthing else.If it is a head how will i determine which one it is without pulling all three.I am not getting any water in the oil either. Any help will be appreciated

Thanks for all the information,

I will try all of them. Will let u know if i find the problem. The bad part is I will probably continue to use it as long as it does not start to run hot. I will keep and eye on the water.I hate to tear it down now.

The very first thing I would look at are fan belts. Our 200 was doing the same thing and adjustable alternator bracket had broke. Got it tighten up and no more water loss if that's not it then follow the other advice.

If the radiator hose becomes hard, good chance it's a head gasket.

Sounds like time for a compression test, and leakdown test..

With these symptoms, most likely a cracked sleeve liner lip. Not uncommon on the Case engines... Gene

First thing I would do take an air hose and blow the dust out of radiator core. 2-Check water pump circulation by taking off radiator cap,[CAUTION DO THIS BEFORE ENGINE IS STARTED] Allow it to warm up and while it's running see if there is good movement or flow of water. If OK, 3- watch for bubbles while your in there. That should tell you if the problem is a gasket, 4-Look your hoses over good make sure none is soft enough to squeeze shut when running at higher rpm.
