In 1939 Theo Brown, who was an engineer with John Deere, designed the sheet metal hood and radiator cover. The tractors with this sheet metal treatment are called 'styled'. The model G wasn't styled until 1942 and all the Gs were all fuel tractors..... ..... ..rw

A "60" would never be unstyled (from factory).

If your A looks like this G then it is an unstyled.

Since you're "new to these old tractors", I'm curious as to why you are buying them?

Everyone has to start some where. I was new to them once myself. That's the great thing about YTMAG, we all have a chance to learn from the experts.

Well here's my story I was raised on a farm left when I was 18 ,but stayed involved in the labor end of the farm .I never had time for the fun part anymore which is operating the equipment. So now I'm 36 and my grandfathers 90 which leaves my Dad at 62 and my younger brothers which I thought was going to farm bailed out .So I will be returning to the farm to keep it going.I'm interested in the old farm equipment to restore so my kid's and other young people can see the old stuff.I bought a D-2 Cat off ebay also got a J.D 30 p.t.o.pull combine off ebay and then I decided to buy a tractor to pull the combine.Farming is in my blood and I just think the old farm equipment is neat. The old stuff is a little cheaper to buy and fix up then hot rods(cars) .To make it short you just don't see the old stuff around much so I'm tring to do my part to keep it out of the scrap yard or rusting away in some back 40.Thanks for the reply.

the unstyled type is an early model ,, the easiest way to describe it is ,, IT has no radiator cover, so the radiator is exposed,, then they came out with the grille to cover radiator and steering coumn,, hope that helps pat
