They were made yet into early this decade. Only one specific engine was on the market made to have a pulley on the top and bottom. Top pulley goes to the drive,, bottom pulley goes to the blades. The engine would not pass the new emissions standards for lawn equipment and thus was discontinued and they had to stop making that mower. I think the engines on them were Tecumseh.

These were manufactured at Warrensburg Mo. My dad was a "jack legged" dealer, basically bought stuff for his own use. I have a few new, old stock parts, mostly belts and bearings.

Swisher Big Mow or Ride King. I have used them a lot, bought one of the later ones new with the fiberglass hood, electric start, and variable speed drive about ten years ago, still using it. Really liked the older one's like yours better. Many of them had the starter that you would wind up and then trip, and they also had a 110 volt starter that you plugged in and fired it up, handy for that first light of the spring. They are no longer made. I have a good one just like yours but it is a Gambles, lime green and white. Before everybody had a zero-turn, they were a really fast mower just because you didn't waste any time turning. Really handy once you get used to them, if you have a rough yard they suck because of the rigid deck.

It"s a Swisher Ride King. I bought one new in 1986 for $625.00. Used it till 1999. I gave it to a guy that bought a 9n from me. They changed the sheet metal design on the later models. I"m not sure if they are still made. It has a single zero turn wheel on the front that is chain driven. Only thing that went wrong with mine was the Tecumsh engine that broke the piston skirt. You could get them with a Briggs engine also.

They were sold under a few different names but Big Mow is one of them.

yep. Big Mow. Pa bought several of them. Most had a 2 speed selected by tightening a different set of belts. They were kind of troublesome. Some had tecumse and some had briggs. The briggs were a better engine back then. bearings were always going out in all those pulleys. They were zero turn and you backed up simple by turning the front drive wheel all the way around with the steering wheel. The concept was all right but they sure did not hold up very well.
