Not talking from personal experience, but my understanding is that grey market tractors of that make are used tractors from Japan that have been carefully repainted in a cheap labor area. I understand the ones that come directly from Japan are usually good. Some Japanese used ones were sold first to Vietnam where they were worn out and then given the Dupont rebuild.

I use a grey markt yanmar for "around the horse stall" use. Grey markets's are easy to spot- there ain't a bit of english on 'em, everything that should be a word is in sanscrit or something.
It is a great running little tractor, with a fine little loader. You just need to remember 2 things about it-
1. it is light. Any weight in the bucket lifted hood high turns it into a potential catapult, so hang on! The loader will handle far more weight than the tractor. I fabbed up some wheel weights and keep a box blade on the back, but it's still an issue.
2. It is narrow- real narrow- so it's tipsy. Narrow and light makes turning with a load on an incline an adventure. Get one with ROP!

Never had to buy a part for it- it's never broke.

the yanmar engine is used in small John Deere tractors and we had a hard time getting a crank shaft for my cousins so he sold it like it was

It depends on how old and if it is made for the American Market and Not Some POS gray Market Tractor. (Gray Market ones will have Japanese writing on them where as the authentic ones have english written on the decals}.

The ones I worked on were good little tractors and we could get most of the parts for them.
