What is the best pole barn for the money. I have a 36x48 Morton and like it very well but some people think they are over priced.

We had a shed built last year. Got quotes from 4 builders. Morton was the highest. I couldnt see any real value for the extra money Morton wanted so we went with Northland builders. No complaints yet.

My brother had Clearey?sp put up his shed and is happy with it. They were a little higher priced on my bid.

I dont think there is much difference in the buildings from all of them .

All the brand-names come with options - so much depends on HOW you actually order the barn - NOT the brand name. You can get heavier trusses, more poles, more girting, etc.

I'm considering getting a barn put up right now. I have always built my own - but this one is on land I own 1000 miles away. For a 50'X 30' barn, with painted steel, 10' ceiling, vapor-barrier, slider main and one 32" entrance door, and 60 lb. roof load - I can buy the materials-kit for $6500. I can get the same half-installed with all posts in the ground and trusses installed for and extra $1500, or have the whole thing installed by a crew for a total price of $10,000.

Build it yer-self; get a low-cost band mill and saw your own stuff. Everybody's got a few trees and SOME kind of tractor, right? They don't have to be saw-log quality to saw out a few 2 bys. You'll way more than pay for the mill from the savings in your first barn.

We just built a 20 x 30 pole barn last year with a loft and 10' shelter off of the end. Yes they are a lot of work but very satisfying in the end. I could not have afforded to hire this done. I tried to post a picture but I do not know how? Paul

If you're a cheapskate (like me) and willing to do the work yourself, the materials kits offered by various lumberyard chains are a terrific value. I bought a kit from Carter Lumber; it took a lot of work on my part but I ended up with a great shop for much less than it would have cost to have it erected by a contractor.
