Two weeks ago I replaced all the wiring, switch, and amp gauge on "Sparky" my favorite wife's 51M.

If my memory hasn't failed, I remember using black, white, blue, green, and red wire.

The generator is being repaired this week. The black and white wire connects the generator to the amp gauge.

The green is for the one headlight.

One black from the coil to the distributor and I think the blue also connects to the coil.

One red from the amp gauge to the starter.

There is also a cutout relay below the amp gauge.

It looks somewhat like a voltage regulator.

This is an obsolete part so be careful with it.

I have a manual with all the wiring diagrams for the antique/vintage JD tractors.

Used the manual to replace wiring on "Easy" my 46A and "Big John" my 55 70 Diesel.

The manual is at the farm in NE Texas and it will be this weekend before we go back to the farm.

I will gladly make a copy of the "M" diagram and mail it to you.

You can contact me via email with your mailing address if interested.

Hope this helps.
