There is some SUPER Bluegrass on XM radio right now. History of Bluegrass on Grass Roots. The Dillards playing Dooley (remember them as the Darling family on Andy Griffith?) the Osborn Brothers,...great stuff!

A guy at work was trying to impress me with his It was nice ,first blues then country then Howard Stern[He was told to turn it off].Once in awhile it would breifly cut out.Teased him about that.I like that the song playing and artist name is displayed. But alas Im cheap and have a good colledge station WFDU FM 89.1 .One day blues ,Let there be country, soul afternnoon. They will play a wild long Allman Bros. then a Broadway show tune.[its hard to get younger guys into it] Three mornings of Bluegrass.Of course you have total control over whatever you hear, kinda worth it for that[XM that is]. I would like to hear History of Bluegrass.I thought it all originated with Bill Monroe, the term . Hank Williams was taught guitar by a black blues street musician named Rufus Paine. It all stems from the blues they say but not really the case with bluegrass.Ive been buying vinyl albums at sales cheap too.I like the old counrtry like Patsy and Kitty Wells and found unscratched but you sure have to look through alot of bad music to find anything good.Happy Listening.

I listen to XM over Direct TV. I've got it hooked up to play through the stereo speakers. One of these days I'm gonna get it hooked up to the Bose Acoustic Wave. Yea,Bluegrass was named for Bill Monroes Bluegrass Boys. They had such a distinct sound, other bands were trying to imitate them. DJs at the time just started calling it Bluegrass misic. We went all the way to Kentucky last summer (450 miles) to see Alison Kraus and Union Station. The Cherryholmes Family is going to be playing 30 miles from here in September. Gotta be there!

If you heard Howard Stern, it wasn't XM. Stern is only on Sirius.

I just saw Tim O'Brien in Manhattan at Joe's Pub on Layfayette St. he played there Wed night, 3 of us went to the show, we went in early and stood behind the stage to listen to the soundcheck, so it was like 2 shows in one, he was talking about Bill Monroe. He played about 1 1/2 hours, good performance to say the least.
