Sure am tired of all this rain. Worked on my driveway yesterday for about 3 hours fixing what the rain had messed up just to get up this morning and find that water is running down the road again this morning. Oh well guess I'll have to live with it because I sure can't stop it from raining but sure wish I could.

send some up here to nw il even thou flat bottom ground is flooded we are short on ground water. figure that out! we've had one big amount of rain since the ice snow rain mess about 6 weeks ago. i think the only reason ground hasn't started to dry out has been to cold. we were to get 60 today i doubt we got to 50. weather man said last time we didn't have any days when temps got to 60 or more in march had more severe storms than normal. we didn't get any 60 days in march.

Rich,

I can't imagine what I would pay for just one good soaker, like we are getting now, about the end of July! Really makes you frustrated knowing how much spring work is ahead that has to be put off 'til later. There is not much relief when you look at the forecasts either.

Oh well, guess I'll go tune up/change oil in the tiller so it is ready for the mad rush. May even fire up the wood stove as it's dang chilly out to go along with the damp.

By the way have you peeked at the spuds lately to see if they are growing or rotting? We don't have any garden in up here,(bout 70 miles N.E. of St.Louis) thanks to mother nature.

Has anyone noticed a pattern here ? It seems a lot of this rain has been falling in that section of the country in the last 2 years, and is not reaching up here like it was in 03-06. Last spring, summer and early fall has been some of the best weather in a long time, prior to that the rain was incessant, '04 and '06, '06 was so bad that most hay went to seed. We seemed to have been getting a lot of northern cold air coming down and warm coming up from the south and at times the winds fight each other, it's amazing to see such prevailing winds change directions quickly when one or the other loses the battle.

The odd thing is that a lot of the heavy rain is getting dumped off before it gets up this way now, was not the case in those wet years, now the same thing seems to be happening south and west in your area, up to Michigan.

Maybe it's me, but seems like there has been some sort of a pattern, hopefully it will change, GA. certainly needed some good rains like this, wonder if those areas have gotten some relief from it.

Thats the way it seems to go.
I think Minnesota is going to have a bad year this year.
All the snow cover went to the south this year. We are 80 plus inches under what we normally get.
So now am hoping we get good spring rains to get some moisture into the ground.
So far thats going south of us too.

Send it to Western South Dakota!!!!! We need it VERY bad(or is it badly?). Most of the stock dams are dry and the few that aren't, are not usable for livestock. Haven't had a 3 day rain for probably 7-8 years. Have had a LITTLE snow this winter, but not enough to do much good, although it all helps. We will gladly take it!!

Suns been trying to pop out a little bit. Guess I'll fire up the back hoe and see if I can move some of the cement in that one area to see if that will help hold the gravel in place. I sure am getting tired of working on the road oh well at least I'm not bored LOL

Re: Rain rain go away-Found cow in ditch drain dead in reply to old, 04-03-2008 07:24:00
Couple days ago I seen a full grown milk cow dead in a washed out ditch. Sure felt sorry for the owner. Lots of money as they say. "Went down the drain"
This was along the old gravel road in a low land area and it had a crossing of cement road. So the cars could pass over the running water at times. But the way the cow was laying almost 5 ft the the otherside of ditch. He must have come from across this road and under a fence with a lot of water power.

And its starting to smell pretty bad also. LOL. If all goes well Larry I will deliver your tractor on Saturday. Seems like between the rain and all I can't seem to catch up on any things. Fix the road and then the next day its gone again. Then this morning the wife went to town to get a new tire and she called saying her car got hot and then would not start. Went in and found that when she blew that tire yesterday it throw a rock into the crank shaft pulley under the alternator belt and she lost the belt. So I then had to go to the parts store and get a new belt and jumper cables so I could jump start her car. Then got home and started to work on the road and found the back hoe was low on hyd. fluid so I did a little bit with it and then used the other loader tractor to move what I pulled out with the back hoe. Then a guy showed up for a hay bale. If thing keep going like they have been I'll meet my self some place coming or going

Hey Floyd,

I agree with you about it being too wet to get much done, especialy today when even the dry ditches are running deep. Ah, just think back to last July, August, and September with all that nice 100+ degree temps, everything dried up, had to worry about setting the fields on fire.

Just teasing, I"m about 20 miles west of you with cabin fever today. I need to get onto my land too, but not until it dries some.

Warren
