I don't have much expierence working on the 3020's and 4020's except operating them and doing routine maintenence. Will a 4020 hydraulic pump fit a 3020. I need a pump for a 3020. Don't know what one costs just need to get it fixed. If anybody would know where I can find one please let me know. Thanks, Rob

Could be as simple as a chewed up drive coupler?

"We" should have mentioned that! Always the first thing to check when having pump problems or unexplained knocks in the front end. The noise can also make you think you have injector/valve/bearing, etc problems. I guess we assumed he had identified the problem as a bad pump.

They come in various sizes - and also in SAE and metric. Swapping between a 2020, 2520, 3020, 4020, etc. is no problem. With some early pumps, e.g. in some 2510s, Deere left out half the pistons and made a four-cylinder pump out of an eight. So, phycially it bolted up the same.

I don't know why anyone would spend the high dollars on a repaired pump without taking the original one apart first. In most cases, all is needed is a bearing adjustment via shims, piston springs, a seal kit, and new stroke control valve. Less than $100 total.

I've had excellent results with re-built pumps from Worthington in Sikeston, MO,; I think their name has changed (All States Ag????). Any reputable (is that an oxymoron) salvage yard should have them and tell you what will fit. My recollection is that pumps from all (Waterloo) 20 thru 40 series will bolt up and work. ASK! Have no experience with 50 and later series.

What is the pump doing or not doing? The problem could range from something inside the transmission, the power steering, rockshaft, coupler or a low dollar stroke control valve.

Last fall when we put it away the pump was knocking. When we got it out this spring we didn't have any power steering and I don't know what else because I wasn't there. I'm just looking for some parts to fix it.

Value built, and Sloan Express carry new pumps. Value built and salvage yards carry rebuilt pumps.

VB shows the same part number for 3020 and 4020, but a couple different version. Remember early and late '20 are drastically different.

In 2006 VB wanted over $900 for a rebuilt pump.

The cases are prone to breaking which makes rebuilds impossible.
