A good samaritan was shot to death in Missouri yesterday afternoon. He had stopped to help at a traffic accident near Marionville,MO.A man involved in the accident shot 55 yr old Joseph Rich from Aurora,MO.

The man then took off walking carrying a shotgun and a local policeman came upon him.He shot the policeman and the wounded officer returned fire killing the murderer.

Its a sad state of affairs when you get shot trying to help someone.I've stopped to help people but may be more cautious now.

Story Of Shooting

I'd be suspicious of an anonymous poster with an anti-gun comment on this site. While the story is indeed tragic this looks like bait from an anti-gunner. He also calls a firearm a "weapon" and his other posts in the same thread don't sound quite right. Smells fishy.

I think SSOA has the same right as others to post this report, you're all too critical, just have a look at some of your past O/T posts and be a little fairer. One accusing him of posting antigun comments,How you can come to that conclusion from his comments has me wondering, another wants to post recipes [well do it. start with scones] and a third contradicts him and says it was a rifle when TWO references in the story relate to a SHOTGUN, I did notice an apology,in my opinion you all should give him one.
I didn't hear any dissent when the Abattoir incident was posted or the Bus Crash.

Very good.... But be careful, you may loose your spot on the feed store bench. Seems to be a lot of good people on here, just hard to believe how some can be so suspicious of others mostly because under their name it says "new user".

To each their own.

Have a good day folks. Finally warm and sunny in my little piece of Germany.

Dave

First off it wasn't a shot gun but a rifle. Now as to why you post this I'm not sure. It happened not more then 100 miles from me. Yes sad but not much can be done it just goes with all thats going on in the world today

Old, all the news media in Springfield said it was a shotgun and the gun I saw laying there on TV was a shotgun. It happened about a block from where my Grand parents on Mom"s side lived for about 30 years.

KY-3 said it was a rifle. Oh well doesn't really matter either way other then I can not see a cop getting shot in the neck with a shot gun living but can see it if it was a rifle.

The purpose of this post is what? I think I'll post my mothers favorite recipes...

Thought this was a "tractor" forum.

Cut'em some slack. This is a tractor forum for tractor lovers which are usually farmers. Farmers have historically been one of the more reliable and trusted individuals. We are considered "good neighbors" and are prone to help others. While Mr Rich's profession was not printed, he was doing what many here in the forum would do because he was being neighborly.

That is a crying shame!! but today with drugs, alcohol and mental illness {I'm sure, one or more applies} no one is safe today. And it will get worse.--With food, energy, etc. climbing at the rate it is, it's inevitable we shall see more of these actions in the near future.-- God help us all who believe.!!

Why did you post this in a tractor forum? (other than because you spend your time posting anti-gun comments in random forums, that is)

There are weapons in my house and I'm pro NRA..In my tractor hobbies I have came across situations like this one and I'm trying to warn people to be careful out there. It might be better to call the law than to get out of your vehicle to try and help.

Seems odd tho, it's OK for our gov to give guns to our boys so he can sleep well at night, but I can't have one on the home front to maybe save his sorry a$$ { Must not have spent time in Viet Nam like me.} P.S. They won't take mine while I'm alive. I'm not nuts, violent, just don't mess with my rights,!!
