Mine are waiting another month when there's no more snow, and it's a little warmer. Easier on the calves, their mommas and me.

Mentioned before first one was still born. Since it was born on the breeder bull"s second birthday I thought that may have something to do with it.

Well 2 wks later #2 hit the deck and no problems. Waiting for the rest.

I fix my fences so that the little critters can get back in if they get out....cause they always do. That means they can get out too. So this heifer snuck out of the fence the other day and all the cows moved off. She was stuck by herself, all alone behind the fence. She ran up and down the fence for a minute or so and bam, punched through the non-barbed wire and back to mama.

Hasn"t left her side since. I"m really glad as I said before, buzzards are a real problem here and one calf will buy all my diesel for a year at today"s prices. Don"t want to loose any of them.

Mark

If you really want me to tell you when we have a calf born I will but once a week every week I would be telling you we had a calf born. Never really cared to select when to let the bull breed the cows. Just let them do their thing all year long.

Girlfriend had one heifer calf a couple days ago and a bull calf yesterday that she had to pull. Little feller was fine but got real weak and cold and ending up dying today around lunch : ( There's about 145 little ones on the way though!

I had to sell several brood cows out of my small herd last summer because of the drought. The remainder are calving pretty much on schedule.

The cow sales caused a bulge in income and now have a bulge in my tax bill.

Have one ready to drop any hour now, at least thats my best guess. I thought she'd go last night, but, what do I know. I'll be glad to see the cold gone, but that snow/rain mix they are calling for sure dont sound like good conditions for a calf!

They should start hitting the ground literally any minute. Got several bagged up and swelling. Sure would like to see the snow gone!

Adding to the number with 3-7 a day have 3 sets of live twins this week. Hope I can keep the coyotes out of them. may have lost one to them a couple of days ago.

I have 3 on the ground. One more to calve and one that lost hers. I mainly buy bucket calves and feed them out so the cow herd is getting thin.

Knowing your little brother it has probably got some of those one armed bandits and a bar.

Sounds like fun.

I'll have to stop in sometime.

I go by there regularly cause I have a daughter that lives south of Wellman.
