I like to look over the diecast bids etc mostly to find a good deal, but prices on diecast tractors seem to stay pretty high (adding shipping) helps too-- Well it is a investment at least thats what i tell the misses.

I'm hoping that my die-cast (and real) tractors and equipment goes up in value... might help with a retirement fund, or at least take them out and play with them for mental health!

My dad has been collecting Matchbox cars for years. He is now moving into an assisted living operation and had to sell off his collection. He basically just broke even after 25 years.

I met Mr. Ertyl at a trade show last year. Nice guy and he says they keep pretty busy running the models that they die-cast. It's one last area of the die-cast business that hasn't been moved to Asia. Most of the other zinc die-cast suppliers have closed or been forced to shift to other products. That said, genuine made in USA Ertyl cast products may be really collectible if they finally shift the stuff overseas.

Isn't Ertl the largest manufacture of tractors around ? Even though they are models.

Some things take a bit to go up in prices. But soon are later they do go up. Investing in somethings is good. I started with hotwheels but found so many had gotten into it. Mine lost in value. Oh though I did not lose total. I sure did not get what I wanted for them.

If its something you enjoy and it don't break the bank, go for it. Consider it an investment in your mental health. Lots cheaper than therapy.
