I am afraid the F-12 was worthless the day it left the factory.

I would assume that's why around 120,000 of them were manufactured and sold? And of course a worthless tractor is certainly worth being restored and sold, right :?:
end sarcasm

Maybe they wer'nt a JD 4040, but in it's day was better than a mule with a headache. At least if you were lucky and didn't break yer arm starting it,you could pull stumps, and work land,If you had the mussel to stear it.

i dont think its worthless, you'd need to know the history, could be the tractor was headed for the scrapper and that was a motor that was available. i have been negotiating on an f-30 the neighbor has thats been sinking in the pasture for years. has a 6 cylinder i-h truck motor in it. motor is junk. i have a 1969 v-6 gm marine engine sitting in the barn, if i can get the tractor, that my wind up in there if i dont find the correct motor for it.
