A little Warning, Women should not handle oxytocin. It can do the same to humans that it does to sows.

Oxytocin. Don"t use it unless the sow has birthed at least one pig already. It helps her birth the rest in line. By now she"s full of infection- penicillin is in order. Wouldn"t hurt to check her internally- may be another in there. Good idea to have a supply of AI plastic gloves, makes that job less disgusting. Check with the vet for some antibiotic boluses for the uterus. Any animal that doesn"t drink is really sick.

What Gary said is right on! If she hasn't eaten or drank for two days the pigs aren't going to be getting anything to eat real soon. Maybe it's too late already. Do you have any other nursing sows you can put the pigs on? Jim

Back in the days I had hogs that sow would get a shot of Occitocon(sp?) and Penicillin.

Are the other pigs nursing and does she have milk? Has she cleaned?
