We had an oil embargo back in the '70's. That was a red flag 30 years ago. I'm not going to ask why we haven't been drilling, building refineries, or get into politics...but that was 30 years ago.

Guess you all know where I'm coming from, so I'll leave it there. It aint going to get easier anytime soon.

Weak dollar will only get worse if we keep sending all our jobs and money overseas. Another problem with fuel prices is every state, city, county wanting a different fuel formula. Our government at work at it's worst. Time to tell the tree huggers enough is enough and have just ONE fuel blend for EVERYWHERE. This doesn't mean no gasohol or bio diesel, but rather the basic blend should be standardized. But, the big issue is our weak dollar. Do you think our grain prices are as high as they are because demand is that much higher? No, I think it is because our dollar is so weak that it makes our grain a relative bargain compared to the rest of the world. As long as we keep sending our money and jobs away I am afraid only going to get worse and worse. I could see this coming as soon as everything started saying Made in China or hecho en mexico. Not only are our prices for everything except cheap electronic goods going up, but our wages are going down. Let's go ahead and let every illegal worker get in and stay in, then see where we end up. I truly fear for our future, including the fact the IRS incentive checks is money we are borrowing from our future, IF we have one. Enuf for now, DOUG

"WE SHOULD INVADE THEIR COUNTRIES, KILL THEIR LEADERS AND CONVERT THEM TO CHRISTIANITY!" Spoken on 9-12-01 by the woman I love. Ann Coulter.

Unfortunately most people fail to understand the fundamental problem here. The real issue here is that the dollar, already a fiat currency, is dropping like a stone against other currencies. The reason for the drop can be directly tied to the ruinous war in Iraq. The deficit spending to wage the war is diluting the dollar. If reports are to be believed, the new currency called the Amero is already printed and ready to replace the dollar. I am afraid that there are some interesting times ahead for our country.

Too bad morons have been wasting Americans wealth building overpriced military hardware instead of a modern energy infrastructure.
All the problems we are facing now and the only tool we have is weapon based and the country is $9 + trillion in debt.
Times will only get worse if peoples answer to problems include stealing other countries resources.

What do you think about drilling in Anwar and a hundred other places? How about more nuclear power plants? Wind turbines? Is that what you mean by "a modern energy infrastructure".

"Times will only get worse if peoples answer to problems include stealing other countries resources."

I agree with you on that, sbin!! No difference in THAT attitude from a common thief sneaking into your barn at night or terrorists trying to extort decent, law-abiding folks.

Of course, that sort of fits with Midwest Redneck/Gun Guru's earlier proposed solution to illegal immigration of "shoot, shovel, shut up"...

If those are the best suggestions he can come up with, I wish he'd keep his stupid and crude, redneck bar room comments to himself - I think he's embarrassing the USA on this international forum.

While thousands of US citizens struggle to pay their heating bills, gas and groceries, and taxes, we are spending 12 billion per week in Iraq?

And most tractors run on gas or diesel.

It's amazing that so many of them have to be reminded of that. Do they think their precious tractors run on air? Or do they pull them with horses? Maybe they get their "run time" on the methane gas from the horses.

It is too bad that the government in this country cant kidnap and threaten leaders of nations like Hugo Chavez, Mamood Imabonehead and King Faud. I bet oil prices would come down quick. But..... We wouldnt want to hurt anybody. Oh well, I guess I will bend over and take it up the tail pipe.
