I know this is NOT a tractor question, but I know there are a lot of "experienced" people who read this forum. So if you are only wanting "tractor" questions, you might want to stop reading this post now!! My question is that my 1994 Chevy pickup with a 6.5L diesel will not start. The "Wait To Start" light does NOT come on along with all the other lights on the dash. The guages do NOT work either. Radio, heater motor, head lights DO work. I am NOT getting power INTO and out of 8 of the 17 fuses in the fuse panel under the steering wheel. Does someone know if there is a relay somewhere that could be bad? Someone mentioned maybe a bad ignition switch. The engine will turn over good, but will not "fire" The fuses that are not getting power are the glow-plug and fuel solenoid along with some others, so we are not getting fuel. The lift pump in the tank sounds like it is working. I am thinking this is an electrical problem, NOT a fuel problem. Someone out there ever had this problem? What was the fix? Thanks.

I would be checking the fusable links - mine are located just inches from the starter solonoid, and attached to the nut on the solonoid. Unfortunately, it requires starter removal to get to them - least it does on my 6.2 diesel. No fun there!

It can be done without pulling the starter. Not easy, but there's room - usually with a wobble-5/8" socket and a long extension - or an off-set angle wrench. I've removed many a starter from 6.2s - 2WD, 4WD, direct-drive and gear-reduction. With all, I've always been able to get the big nut off and remove the big wires - without pulling the starter.

Because it IS so hard to get to, it's a reason why it's often not tightened properly - which can lead to the sort of problems mentioned here.

On a '94, it's EASY to access the starter connections through the wheel well after popping out about 3 plastic push-in retainers and removing the rubber splash guard.

l'm also agree with fuse links @ starter--if l remember, some had more than one to serve differant functions. also look under black plastic flap @ top of firewall on some models--fuel pump fuse&relay is there, maybe more--and a very important ground wire-paul

I'm not sure about the 94s since that's the first year of the electronic-pump. Many older 6.2s and 6.5s have the main system and glow-plug power feed wire on the main post of the starter soleoid along with the battery cable. That connection can get loose, corroded, etc. and cause that sort of problem. This is especially true if someone's had the starter out before - since that nut is often not tightened correctly.

Sounds like you have lost the ground connection
all of those relays and gauges ground to the engine at the firewall near the center
Hope this helps
