I have a JD 450c loader that will start up fine but after a few minutes of running it loses rpm and eventually dies. I replaced the fuel filter but that did not help. Any ideas. Maybe the fuel pump is not working? Could the turbo be stuck but it runs OK for a few minutes. Any ideas?

My 450 did the same thing. It had black gunk in the fuel tank, lines from tank to fuel pump & in pump. An algae grows between the water & fuel in the tank. This gunk clogs shut-off valve & lines. Drain & clean tank, blow out lines, clear orfices if this is the case & it will run like a top.

A blockage in the return line system will cause your problem also. Outlet fitting on the Inj. pump may plug if pump is failing.

If fuel is flowing properly to the injection pump, you probably have a failed governor weight-retainer ring inside the injection pump. It's can be a four hour job to fix including removing the pump, fixing the pump, and reinstalling - if you find the right person to do it. Otherwise - it can cost you over a $1000.

If fuel is not getting to the pump, or has air in it, check the obvious - e.g. the fuel valve at the tank bottom, fuel transfer pump, etc.
