Going to look at one this morning. Seller doesn't know what it's worth so it's up to me to make an offer. Anybody have a clue?

Got a rental property that the tennants are behind to Amerigas to the tune of about $600.
Got a call from Amerigas saying in the future, because I'm the one who leased the tank when I converted the house to propane from oil I will have to guarantee their fuel bill. HA!
If I buy them a tank then it's all COD and tennants can shop around for better prices.

Ultradog MN said: (quoted from post at 06:25:33 02/29/08) I asked Amerigas what were the inspection/testing requirements and how much it cost.

They told me they would inspect it for free the first time they filled it. After that she said they would just fill it like normal.

By the way, there was another, smaller tank there about 300 gal I think.

I could put someone in touch with the seller if they were interested.

ultradog, do you know? What is the requirement on the tank (as far as updated or certified) for the Propane provider to be able to fill this used tank??

Great deal. .75 per gallon? It used to be $1.00 per gallon by me, but its gone up to about $1.15 or so. I've seen $1.25, and one guy asked $1.50 cause he figured he could get it. He came down. Good deal for you. Congrats. Will your gas guy fill it? Some by us will, some won't because say they don't know the accuracy of the meter/guage.

Loan me your horseshoe?

Thanks for the help!!
Went to look at the tank today. Then called the owner and told him that the good folks on the tractor forum said it was worth about 75 cents/gal = $375. I offered him that and he said fine. So I bought it.
He has what looks like a JD 1 bottom trailer plow laying in the weeds. I'm going to ask him about that too.

Here in MN they go for about $1.10 a gallon. Priced a new 1000 gal about 2 weeks ago at $1650. Seen 2 used 1000's sell on an auction last fall for $1400 apiece, empty.

I paid $650 for a brand new 500 tank. A new 1000 gallon wasn't much more at $800.

Father in law paid $750 for a 1000 gallon, 3/4 full. Yes, he has a horseshoe up his hind end.
