I agree with making this thing a sticky...it will save me from posting all the fees and restrictions each time somebody brings this auction up, which seems to be about every other day  . I just want to make sure everyone knows what they are getting into if they plan on attending. I would hate to see someone travel from, say, 1200+ miles (like I was going to do when Aumanns had it) not realizing what was going on with this whole mess/scam/extortion scheme/whatever you want to call it.

They should just make this thread a sticky so we dont have to keep re-hashing this every other day. Everyone seems to believe this auction is a scam and I not knowing a single person involved but reading these posts that if there was a contract with the Aumanns that there is a breach of contract that is taking place and I hope that someone files suit and prevents this auction from taking place so some crooked person takes it in the shorts! I am a firm believer that when you give someone your word you follow through with your commitments and this whole thing just smells of a scam.

I personally dont have have as much problem with a buyers premium as you know that going in so factor that into your price. What I will NEVER pay for at an auction is Parking, Admission and a Catalog! If the auction house doesnt have the faith in the products they are selling to bring a price worthy of their investment in the marketing costs I have no desire to be there.

I don't think Gary was the one that went bankrupt, it was the outfit that bought him out and Gary ended up with it back. Would have to do some checking.

They are the largest iron traders/chop shop in the panhandle and there are quite a few in this neck of the woods, as this is a huge farming area.

I would venture to say that all invenotry came from farm sales of broke farmers. Gary's iron man was always there to "pick up the bid" when others walked away.

I always got along with them just fine. Others hated him because he got rich by picking up the spoils of other people's woes/troubles.

Here's their website:

Broke?

Naw, not even. He was rich before he even got out of high school. Word is that he was worth a conservative 300 mil when he passed on.

Heck, he was so big that he dealt with foreign countries; namely, Mexico. Semis always leaving his yards with loads and loads of machinery and tractors to cross the river. :>)

Can it still be an auction when you have to pay to get in?

I would bet that there is some form a liability that kicks in when Kurse charges admission.

I read that too, jm.watkins. They are promoting this auction as being NO RESERVE. But everything is sold subject to the owner's confirmation, and Kruse has the right to bid on any item in order to "protect" the owner, just as you said.
This whole auction is just one big extortion scheme. The fees/premiums/taxes have been put in place in order to line the pockets of Kruse. Like I said in my earlier post, if you tally up all the fees/taxes/premiums, expect to add at least 20% to your final bid to cover these costs.

When I got this flyer I was shocked to see that many old tractors. Being from Tn we don,t see that kind of salvage. Seems like you all have it pretty well covred but I noticed on the front UNRESERVED AUCTION then when I read the fine print in terms , One item states each item sold subject to OWNERS confirmation and they KRAUSE)
may bid on any item.. Like all of you doubt that there will be any bargains there..

called kruse to get all the fees and called yard in ne to get all the fees if you go you better take all the green backs you got you will need them before you leave or by the end of the week when your trailer is full you better have some where to go with it the longer it sets there more it going to cost you it just like a parking metter when kruse says sold you got 24 hr to move it off the lot or the metter will being running

A few things I wouldn't mind having,but I won't go.

I refuse to go to an auction with any kind of buyer's premium. They're charging for "collector's" auction bill book, parking, admittance, and pro'ly toilet use, forget it!

There'll be alot of high rollers there paying way too much for stuff anyway.

I just received the flyer, has my business name on it, so they must have bought mailing list information to get the word out. I'm like where did this come from, then remembering the several posts here, oh, that auction, so it seems like they're still trying to reel people in. Looks a little complicated for small time players and I bet there will be some squabbles before the week is over.

Otherwise it would have been a nice sale to go to even though its half a days drive.

I assume even Nebraska gets rain in the spring? Plus it doesn't matter if it sits on a sand dune or not...thousands of people tramping about and hundreds of trucks and trailers are going to chew that ground up pretty fast.

It always seems strange that when a business is liquidated at auction you have people travel thousands of miles to buy the inventory. Yet when the business was operating...nobody wanted the stuff.

I have boycotted this auction due to several reasons. The less than favorable reputation of Kruse, the legal troubles involving Gary's Implement, and the underhanded dealings by both Kruse and Mrs. Phillips in breaking her contract with Aumanns. I know a lot of people on here feel the same way I do. Alright, I have probably posted this half a dozen times before, but here is the list of fees/taxes/restrictions charged by Kruse:
If you read the fine print in their "auction terms" section and the section linked through the auction page itself, you will discover: Kruse is charging for parking, $10 to get into the auction, making you pay for a bidder number, if you wish to pay with cash you must hand them a $500 deposit before bidding even begins, charging a 10% buyers premium on vehicles and 15% on parts and literature, plus a 7% sales tax.
When bidding, figure on adding 20%+ to your bid in order to cover the fees and taxes. Oh yeah and if you don't remove your purchases within 24 hours, they will nail you for handling and storage fees. Since the sale is 7 days long, this means you will have to remove your purchases as the auction is still commencing. Also remember that Nebraska in April will be a muddy mess, and hundreds of trucks, trailers, and people are not going to make it any faster or easier to remove items!
I have heard from several sources that if you buy a tractor or vehicle and need help loading they will also charge you a fee to make a loading appointment, and then charge you again for the actual loading itself.

This auction has been discussed and debated several times on almost every board here over the past few months. Just do a quick search, and you should be able to find all the old posts about it.

eh, forget that auction - buyers premiums, down payments, interest rates and other ridiculous charges. One thing is for sure though, McGrew will be there buying about 50% of the tractors for his new megaparts salvage yard in Indiana.

I doubt if i'd be able to get my hands on a decent tractor with 20,000 other people bidding on the same thing.

Where did Mcgrew come from?? he first started in a lot here in Pa, then just bought out Dennis Polk. He did/does tons of no reserve auctions. Both live and internet. Now he is parting out tractors. Some of the tractors in pa that he is parting out look good enought to be fixer uppers. He has tons of ebay listing trying to sell the parts...

You don't suppose there could be some sort of "tie-up" between McGrew and Kruse what with both being from Indiana and all? Does it seem that maybe all those extra fees and what-not might be designed to keep the low buck people away and let the high-buck buyers (and not too many of them) have their own little bidding contests? Kruse sure doesn't like having "riff-raff" at his auto auctions. Seems like he has been diversifying getting into antique farm stuff and hosting the Maumee Valley indoor show too. Well, Hey, you gotta go where there may be money to be made....might be a little late though as far as antique tractors business what with the energy crunch and other economic squeezes.

I know for a fact there is no tie up between Greg McGrew, Denny Polk, and the Kruse's. Doubt that either one may be there. If you bought 250,000.00 of merchandise, there would be an additional 25,000.00 in fees, plus loading fees. I know both men well enough that it won't happen, and I know Kruse's well enough they cut no one any slack no matter what they spend. Pretty slick deal to sell your own stuff and collect the extra fees and commission plus what ever you make on the initial investment!!!

Hey Scot,

I would not bet the farm on your statement about kruse McGrew and polk in bed together!! polk and kruse were "snug as a bug" in Yuma!!! It made you sick watching what was going on!! kruse will protect the owner since he is the owner!!! In the old days he would be selling snake oil and some would actually buy the stuff (just like at this scam)!! And yes my shift key works but I can not bring myself to think either one have a formal last name!! Their mothers would be proud!!

They could also loose their shirt....I mean they had to have made the owner a REAL GOOD offer for her to call off an auction, risk a lawsuit, and sell to someone else. I dont know how much money there is in parting out tractors, but you could tie up a lot of money sending workers and trucks out just to haul all the equipment home in order to parts it out. Time will tell...
