well, finally, after refusing to pay for the unrequested $3.11 a gallon LP gas, and sticking to my guns, the local manager calls and tells me they will come and pump out the gas and credit my account, which was $0.00 in my eyes cause I didnt order it. I told him I would just buy it if he would lower price to $2.24- Amerigases price same day, which would have been $.87 a gallon reduction, which would have been a "loss",ya right, of $91.35(105 gallons). He refused saying they will drop the $87 fee to come out and pump it out(Hmm $87 fee drop vs $91.35 profit), but WILL NOT lower the price. I said come get your gas. 2 days later gas truck shows up, Hmm, he cant pump it out, fitting inaccesable on bottem of tank, need to lift the tank, 2 days later ol fella come out with trailer and boom to raise tank so fitting can he accessed, Hmm, cant get to tank because of the snow depth, goes back to office and asks them to just match the price, told nope, drives back out to jack up the tank and block it up, today another gas driver comes out, and sets everything up (lot of hoses and pumps and labor) and pumps out 105 gallon=/-. Now tell me, how is that a way to manage a business, look at the extra cost from NOT just matching the price, not to mention they are losing a customer who is right now switching from electric water heater and cooking to propane, is gonna have a shop to heat after this summer, and will have corn to dry. The employees I spoke with were all very nice professional people, I feel bad for them, as they have nothing to do with managment. I am done with Ferrelgas and look forward to buying my own tanks and doing usiness with any one else.

Gary The exact same thing happened where I live. HeartlandCoop and Farm Services have picked up all the people that owned their tanks.I have to chuckle when I drive by what was our independent propane gas mans place,It now looks like a tank farm from all the returned tanks of Ferrel gas.

Coop tried to buy the tanks from Ferrel and just leave them set. Nope Ferrle wouldn't do it.

But they would sell to the customer. Customer sold them to Coop. Saved a lot of labor resetting tanks after we figured that system out.

Just had to pressure check them and fill them.

Coop owns 150 tanks that still have the BrandX sticker on them. And still buying.

The lot got full in Ia City of empty tanks at Ferrel also.

Ferrel gas bought out a local gas company ( Brand X) about 3 years ago.

The local Coop picked up about 500 new customers that were Ferrel gas after the buyout of Brand X.

2 other local companies picked up about 400 customers also. Out of the orginal 1800 customers Brand X had, Ferrel is down to 900 and still losing daily.

Coop has hired 3 of their employees. Added 1 route truck and traded another single axle 3200 gal, for a tandum axle 5400 gal truck to keep up with the new customers. Coop is now up to 4 route trucks

Ferrel buying Brand X was the best thing that ever happen to the Coop and other locals.

I feel sorry for the employees of Brand X that stayed with Ferrel after the buyout.

But out of the 10 employees that worked for Brand X only about 2 of the orginals remain. Rest got fed up and left. Ferrel bought 4 route trucks with the purchase of Brand X and are now down to 2 trucks.

Everything you guys have said on here about Ferrel, has happened right here also.

Hope no one here owns Ferrel stock.

Gary

I get SO frustrated with gas and insurance companies that way. The very nature of the way they do business makes it prudent to shop prices everytime you buy. If they think for a moment you have fallen asleep at the wheel, up goes the price. Owning your own tank is the way to go. When I need gas, I make 3 or 4 calls, ask the cash price and buy the cheapest. Driver gets a check when he leaves the yard.

Yep it amazes me when companies will loose 500$ of labor and not simply 'loose' 100$ of material.

Some companies have a 'cut your nose off to spite your face' management policy.

If it's a publically traded co.. why not a letter addressed to the stockholder to let them know how the company is handling their money.. IE.. loosing $$$$ to save $$... etc.

Circuit City is the same way when ti comes to customer service...backwards.

I can't figure out how that company stays in business ? An awful lot of people have responded here of past problems with that outfit and nobody is using them ? I just don't see how they keep the doors open ?? Or even better yet how come they don't fire the management and get some GOOD managers ?
