I need to know. When you guys in Michigan get your assessment change notices, check the "Classification". At a Board of Review class, they told us that a parcel has to be 50% tillable to be classified ag. That's WRONG and I can prove it. I've been in contact with Treasury and they won't even respond anymore. I contacted Farm Bureau, they're working on it. I talked to my State Representative yesterday, she said she'd had other complaints, but she didn't have the information that I have. You need 3 laws and guidelines in front of yourself all at the same time to put it together and proove that Treasury is telling local assessors to use the definition that is supposed to be used to qualify for the 18 mil "Qualified Ag Exemption",for classification instead. If yours has been changed, send me an email and I'll give you the links you need to download those laws and guidelines.

RR,

Genesee County. They keep telling me my property is "gold". Since the suburbs are coming this way.

Kept fighting assessments, etc etc. Assessor keeps telling me to develop my land it is worth more, and I can make money. I said I think you want it developed so the township can make more in taxes. She was not happy.

Finally a real estate lawyer fixed everything for just a few bucks out of my pocket. The townships around here think they can do what they want regardless of laws and guidelines.

She told me my one field wasnt agricultural, 22 acres with 22 acres of corn, and has been farmed since the 1920's. She looked pretty stupid.

Sorry for the rant.
Rick

Yes it does if it fits the description of an Agricultural Operation. If it's your homestead,no need to,you receive the homestead exemption.
