I have a D17 it runs great but I think I am getting a little gas in oil. Where is it coming from and how do I stop it? Thanks in advance.

Bump for another persons opinion.

If you are getting gas into the oil even if you shut the fuel off. The last thing that I could check easily is to shut the fuel off and pull the fuel line and see if the shut off isn't seating incorrectly.... Maybe the shut-off doesn't shut off so well?

Otherwise could you have bad rings? and be running rich and washing the walls all the time.?

That is as far as I go.... Could be an old tractor thing too... J/K

Rebuild the Carb... If you haven't.

To answer the question I do shut off when parking it for more than 15 min or so .Do I just need to rebuild the carb then.

Not to mention shortening the life span of the oil. It in effect shortens the life span of the whole motor. This is because of the gas also washing the oil off the cylinder walls this takes away the lubricating effect of the oil for a few moments.

It also might feel as though you are losing compression after it sits for a while.

It is a bad deal - shut the fuel off!

I'll bet you don't shut off the gas when you park it right?? Well if you don't then what happens is the carb leaks just a tad and then the gas goes up hill, yep it will BTDT and then seeps past the rings and down into to oil. The easy fix is to turn off the gas when you park it and or rebuild the carb
