18 degrees outside 55 in the shop, but my feet feel like popsickles, I hate that cold concrete floor! I wish I had known about the hot water systems in the floor when I built my shop. When my feet get so cold I am done, how do you guys cope with this problem?

Foam rubber cushioned shop floor mats from harbor freight or sears help too for about $20 a package. I've seen others used old carpet too. Just don't be welding or using cutting torch around them though.

I bought a pair of Itasca's with 1600 grams of Thinsulate at Gander MOuntain last year. Absolutely great, no more cold feet ever. I only have a small salamander in my shop so not much heat at all. Maybe next year I'll insulate better and put some kind of permanent heat ou there.

Try putting small plastic bags over your socks before you put your boots on. Lets them slip right off when you want... Gene

May not be the best thing to do in cold weather. Give you dishpan feet in short order. Wool socks are the ticket with Mickey Mouse boots. If you wear normal cotton, just change them about halfway through the day (if you sweat).
Stay warm.

I talked to a friend today who just "rescued" a 67 yr old lady from a flooded river cabin she lives in, in Indiana. She walked over to his cabin through the water Bare Foot, she has no rubber boots and didn"t want her shoes wet! It only got up to 23 deg today, now that had to be cold feet! He let her warm up next to the wood stove before he took her to the store.

Mickey mouse boots. Military issue. Gum rubber bottoms and air chambers to inflate. Never had to do that. Mine are over 40 years old and my feet usually sweat when zero outside.

Get a pair of Rocky boots you'll never want anything else in the Winter. The higher the number the warmer your feet will stay.

Where I work, there is a lot of cardboard waste. I spread out several layers of cardboard on the floor to walk on, then toss it in the spring. (I don't have a hot wrench.)

I had that problem until last year. My wife works for Dick's Sporting Goods and she brought home a pair of Rocky Timberwolf boots for me. Something like 800g of Thinsulate, Gortex, and 1yr warrenty. They aren't as good as a heated floor, but for the first time ever I don't have cold toes. They also cost around $100... but in my mind you get what you pay for.

Animal,I hear ya.

I got sick of cold feet.So sick that when I built my shop 6 yrs ago,I put in Wirsbo heated floor system and have never looked back. Love it.

The biggest expense I had was the plastic tubing.Used boiler from a house for 50 bucks,2" foam insulation sheets, and did it myself.

KYhayman is on to the ticket. Those are good. Another solution is Military Arctic boots (Mickey mouse boots) they are often in military surplus stores, or on line. 45$ to 85$ will get into them White and Black. They are rubber lined felt insulated boots with (usually) an air pressure compensator on the side to adjust for riding in aircraft with partial pressure cabins, and choppers. They are beyond good, and do not get cold (even if a person overtopped them full of water, the water warms up and all is well. JimN

I've suffered every year with cold feet. Seems no matter what I wore or wear by the middle of the day they are clamey, cold, and Im miseratble.

That is until this winter. I kept noticing all the dairymen around me were wearing Muck brand boot. They looked a lot more comfortable than the other rubber boots I've worn. I went and looked at them, at 100 bucks a pair at TSC I decided to not buy them. Kept going back and reading about them. They sounded good, insulted yet breathable yet water proof. So I sucked it up and bought a pair. Been 5 weeks and I wear them every day, snow, slush, mud, creek, pond, you name it. My feet have yet to get cold this winter.

Hayman your right.Been wearing all kinds of boots over the years but, finally bought a pair of Muck's Artic Sports. Only boots i've ever had that keep my feet toasty on cold winter days while only wearing cotton socks.I can stay on the deer stand all day wearing these.Just roll the top down and they slip on and off easily also. Not cheap ,but my feet are not cold anymore.

I have pair of them, and what you say is true, but I have the highest instep you have ever seen on a human, when I get them on I cant get them off, the last time I wore them, I had a carpet knife out and almost cut them off, I was wondering, if the low cuts would work with good wool socks.

I have floor heat in garage-love it. But my feet
also get cold easily. If you are standing at a bench working or working where you can sit down.
I went to Fleet Farm and bought an electric mat
from the pet department(for doggies)and it keeps
my feet toasty warm.

Me too . I have a small heated room in my garage that is my bathroom & tool room . I keep going in there & getting warmed up plus use my heat gun to warm my feet some for another bout with the cold garage floor. To think years ago when I was younger I spent hours working in my garage with the woodsove burning . But nowdays that stove just doesn't get it warm enough for me . I even have to keep the house warmer now also . Does age have anything to do with it ? Inquiring minds wanna know . God bless, Ken
