Just spent some time on the phone getting a monthly "Nation wide voice messaging" bill off my phone bill. It just showed up the last two months bills. Is a 3rd party bill that was submitted for billing to MY phone company. Apparently they are REQUIRED by law to bill me if the "third party "has enough info. Turns out they used my address, my daughters email address, her birth day, and my birth year, and my phone #, and that was it. Jumped all over the daughter first figuring she did some thing, but ended up she was innocent, they claimed there was a "confirmation email" sent to her email, ALL her emails are saved and there was nothing. Turns out this happens alot. They are crediting my account and will "try" to find out who started the process. Man, how can they allow these things to just be added to MY account, with out any involvement or confirmation from me!

Not quite the same thing but we had some problems wiwth Satellite TV. We have Starchoice and decided to switch to this other company because we cuold save some money. Signed the two year lease and we had 10? days to decide if we wanted to stay with them. Nothing but trouble so to prevent them from taking our money we cancelled the credit card that it was on. This company who is not conected to their homephone company or mobile company or internet company(or so they told us over one of our 2 hour argument on the phone) took money out of our home phone auto withdrawal because they couldn"t get it out of the credit card. That was alot of yelling on the phone telling them that it was flat out stealing. Got all our money back and are now back with Starchoice. Had a problem with the same company but with home phone. We got billed for 200 and some dollars because some people were using the line to call 1-900 #"s which are quite expensive to call. Swallowed that one. As you can imagine we have asked that 1-900 numbers can no longer be called on our account although it still surprises me that they didn"t mess that up!

Hi Dave,

When dial tones were in high demand here, (not enough dial tones available) I had a neighbor call to get my phone disconnected so she could get our dial tone. Due too a sharp phone company employee, she called me and asked me if that was what I wanted.

I now have a password on all my utility accounts. This saved me when qwest tried to pull the same thing as they did on you.

What was even harder to get corrected is when I left for the summer and had Qwest debit our checking account for the amount due each month. At the same time I had inquired about getting a Qwest cellphone. Qwest couldn't provide the access I wanted so we went else where but Qwest billed us any way for 6mths for a cellphone we didn't have. That took me a year to get my money back.

I had AT&T cell serivce. When we went to a "partner" area the partner billed there monthly minutes different than what AT&T billed so I was always over my monthly minute allotment, about $1200 in 6mths. That took me almost a year to get corrected and AT&T lost a 30yr customer but they didn't care.

Sounds like what happened to me with ATT Cingular.Got the bill,It was over $1000 bucks.Had an extra Phone # on our accuont.Called the company and they said we authorized adding another #.Would not tell me who authorized it.Calls on there from coast to coast and border to border.I refused to pay it and ended up getting other service. Will have nothing to do with ATT since.

AT&T sent us a notice once saying that our bill had been paid on the due date several times so they were billing us $80.00, which would be paid back with interest after 6 months, because we were considered a risk. I argued with them and finally told them to just shut the phone off, which they were going to do, when my wife came home she got worried about being in the country with two kids and no phone so she called and talked to them. So they turned the phone on that they really had never turned off and charged us another $5.00. And I wonder if they ever considered why they were deregulated.

Same here. Had it happen with 2 different charges the same month. I crossed it off and subtracted it off the total for several months, told them to pay for it themselves since they authotized it,I didn't. They finally CALLED ME. I had one H#LL of a time getting that money refunded. I told them if I EVER get a charge like that again,a copy of the bill is going straight to the state Attorney Generals office.

same thing here. another company added charges to my long distance calls without my knowledge or consent. Doubled my long distance charges. If anyone anywhere wants to add anything to your will, your phone co. will bill you. Call & complain (ya, try that!) & your phone co. can't take'em off! you have to call the charging company & argue them into knocking off IF THEY WANT TO. If they dont want to they keep charging. I pay only the monthly bill & let the fake charges pile up. I'm cutting them off in couple months anyway. Pity the poor people who haven't moved. Change phone companies & the new one will do it to you also. Lawless country nowadays.

I have to have a land line for the alarm system in the barn. Also, the land line will work when the cell towers go down.

There should be a device that you could put on your phone to record all long distance calls, I have never saw one. I think they will never make one because it would cause the phone companys a lot of grief..I sometimes write down all my long distance calls and it does not come out the way I want it to.

Went through the same situation some years back when I got "slammed" to another long distance carrier. Don"t know if your phone company has anything like this in place but my service now has a "lock" on it. What I was told when I had it done was that nothing can be done to change or add anything onto my service without me physically calling them to authorize it. You might want to ask about something like this from your phone company.

Had a somewhat similar situation with Verizon Wireless. All of a sudden we were getting billed for 10 text messages . I checked around and found out that even if we don't use texting we will be billed if someone decides to text us at the rate of 25 cents per message. Found out they were political message from DNC. . you have to call the phone companyto say that you do not want to receive text messages or you are at everyones mercy. Did not pay them. Henry
