I couldn't spell that town's name if it was written down in front of me, but, the groundhawg in Pennsylvania saw it's shadow.

We get 6 more weeks of winter weather.

Funny thing is, even when it DOESN'T see it's shadow, we usually get 6 more weeks of winter.

But now it's official.

send him to stephenson couny il. that guy would be lucky to find his door as it would be full of ----- er snow. on rockord tv last night weather guesser said if rockford doesn't get any more snow for this winter season they will have average snow fall for the season. as it is they are 18 inches above normal now. we have had more snow than them as couple of times we got clobbered hard when they had very little.

He's a pet, they ain't waking him up, he probably is organized with the union, has a shop steward and trade contract, stipulating the conditions of Feb 2 annual festivities, then he's off the rest of the year, and they only live about 8 years 2 term limit like the president. I had one squat under my porch, and we met eye to eye in a nearby pine tree one day, then for the next 7 years he stayed, and hung out.

No lie, and I wish I had a photo of this, he once stood on the front step with his arms crossed, like where's the food buddy, tried to take broom down the hole as if he was gonna do some cleaning, then he'd service all the other chuck holes on the hill, even brought the wife and kids to visit, they did not like me even when I offered them food, and on saturdays andmost days you could set you watch by his appearances. He also started many a ruckus under the porch with any other chucks trying to take over his turf, now it was either one of those fights or his day job farming the fields, was missing a finger, that's is how you could ID him. He worked April to September, I think he passed last year. Too bad they dig holes, I used to shoot them when the horses were in these fields, no reason any more, although this guy could pick a ripe tomato, and that was crossing the line, (I had to laugh) every time I had one eyeballed, the next day there'd be a bite out of it, so I had to cut part of it off to eat it, sharing tomatoes with a woodchuck, friends thought I lost it, but he was a really friendly critter, almost climb up on your lap, yet was completely wild, probably make a nice pet, but no good in the fields that is for sure.

Photo of Woody, standing next to me sitting on the step:

Ya got the thing all wrong. Not to worry. He sees his shadow we have 6 more weeks of winter. If he don't we only have a month and a half of winter yet to go. A measly 42 days. (:^D

I'm torn on this one.If I was sleeping the winter away and a bunch of jackasses shoved me out into the cold to take some pictures and generaly just annoy me all I'd ever give them is more winter.however since it is a groundhog maybe we should just shoot the darn thing everytime he predicts more winter. then prehaps his decendants would wise up and stop adding 6 weeks to winter
