I got a call from my grandson Robert today he's off to SC to meet up with a Virginia AR unit and then off to Iraq for 400 days. this will be his second tour so we are holding our fingers crossed.
One thing in his favor is the fact that all though we have fought in every war since the Revolutionary war there has never been anyone killed in a war in my family.
Walt

Dear Lord, I pray that you will watch over Robert and all of the other fine, brave young men and women who are overseas in this conflict. I pray that you will keep them safely in the palm of your hand and bring them safely home when their tour is done. May your will be done. For I ask this in Jesus's name, AMEN
Will pray for Robert and the others, May God Bless them, Chris

I hope this will be taken as from a realist rather than an alarmist, but if you send him box of goodies, throw in a good sized box of tampons. They're great for plugging bullet holes because they absorb blood and stop bleeding, just like they're designed to do. Putting a tampon in a bullet or shrapnel wound has saved more than one life in Iraq.

From feedback I get from fellow Marines over there, at one time after the word got out so many male Marines were buying tampons to carry along on missions that they ran short of tampon's for the intended purpose for the ladies. Until they made an adjustment, Supply based the supply on the male/female ratio.

It may be gross to bring it up at this stage of the game, but if being gross helps save someone over yonder, it's worth it.

Walt,

I followed the strings of e-mails that many of you regulars like Old, Allen in NE and many others wrote during my last tour in Iraq. Y'all brought a lot of thoughts of how home used to be to a former Mississippi farm boy. After almost 2 years boots on the ground in Baghdad and Al Anbar province, I understand the mission over there pretty well. Rest assured that your family will remain in my prayers. God bless.

Semper Fi,

Ray

Best of Luck to your grandson and pray he and his unit stay out of harms way. Our people just returned last night after a six month stay. I'll most likely be on the next trip.

Jim

Walt,
You have got to be one proud guy, Be sure and send him goodies often!Since he's been over there once, you know the proceedure, and don't forget to wear your pin everytime you go into town! They do this as their choice....to defend others.
My son has one year in Iraq, One day I was planting corn in a big field, my cell phone buzzed in my pocket, and it was my son calling from Iraq! I stopped the tractor got off and we talked till his phone card ran out, it was the greatest day! Please Thank your grandson for me, we will pray for his safe return!

I hope he and his fellow soldiers will be safe. I have a niece leaving in July, she will pretty much stay in the green zone so I think she"s relatively safe. Thanks for the service of your family members.
