At the present I have a RT. Used to have an RTX but time, metal fatigue, track losing rubber and other issues it was retired to the recycler.I still have the sachs 440 engine sitting in the shed. It was one moving machine. The RT that I have now is also a good machine and I still ride it when there is enough snow.

I have a Skiroule RTX 300 with a Sachs sa290ss motor and, another one like for parts. Yes they were fun old sleds. My father has been bugging me to get it out of his yard and to my own house. I would like to get the time to get it running again, lol. We also had a couple 250s with the Sachs, and dad had a 400 with the ccw, Canadian curtis wright motor. We had alot of fun on those old things.

I raced Chaparrals back in the mid 70s. Those Skiroules gave me fits. They were one fast machine. We called'em super pickles.

The Colemen company built them and Skieroules were a darn good machine. A lot of people around here ran Skiroule. I believe Colemen sold out and eventually they were dropped from production after a few mild winters around '76,'77'78 and sales slumped. It happened to a lot of snowmobile manufacturers whose only product was snow machines. I have an original '74 TNT that is in excellent condition and five Ski Whiz built by Massey Ferguson. The latest is a Chinook that I need to get running. I enjoy older machines. There are hundreds of old snomachines in sheds and barns around my neck of the woods, I can name four barns right off the top of my head that have multiple sleds sitting in them, the kids grew up and went off to school and to the cities and there sit their snowmobiles. There are antique snowmobile meets appearing around occasionally.

The 76, 77, and 78 winters were anything but mild, but yes, that was the time when a lot of skidoo manufacturers got shook out of the market, with the fuel crisis and all. My buddy in high school had a Skiroule 440, and that machine really could move. Another buddy of mine has a whole fleet of old Johnson sleds for the 60's and 70's. Those old sleds are really neat and it is good that someone is taking an intertest in them.

My dad was the Ariens distributor in the late 60's and early 70's. The Ariens snowmobiles were made by Skiroule. I remember that they were pretty cool at the time although I was only about 7 or 8 years old. I wonder if any Ariens sleds are still around? I know a guy who had a Skiroule in mint condition that only needed a new coil. It had a Kohler engine and the coil he said was $400. He ended up scraping it because he was too cheap to buy a coil or try to find one cheaper. Dave
