Has anyone recived emails saying that they want to buy a item listed but dont even talk about the item AT ALL and never mention a price etc...

I thought that i would post an email that i recieved to a item i have listed...

"Seem like a scam too me?? or something? Thanks for your response,i have been looking for something like this for close to some weeks now. The item would definitely be picked up by my hubby's closest shipper whose location presently is in USA.After you get payment in form of a certified check he would come immediately to pick it up from your residence. apparently i can trust you on this due to the fact that you wanna sell and i am eager to buy .My huubby's shipper complained of inadequacy of funds to execute my transaction effectively so i would but imply that my payment issuing client would include some extra funds on your initial asking price so that you can thereafter send the excess to him in USA and pick up can be done at a more quicker rate .I myself would be busy for the rest of the month cos i am a phone consultant in my company so i dont receive calls but i would reach you via e-mail most times .I expect you to contact me A.S.A.P concerning posting of your paymnet ok.mind you its gonna take your bank 2 to 3days right cos am here to buy the item for real ok"

I thought that i post this soo someone doesnt get the short end of the stick on this one....

Andrew

Best one I have gotten in a long time was a reply to a add I put on here. I placed a wanted add for a ford 960 drawbar. Got a email from a nice lady in Queens NY who had "just what I needed". All I had to do was email her my credit card info and she would send it to me for $20, free shiping.

Along this line and a little OT, has any one else got'n put on the short and limp mail'n list?

No, my Computer Associates protective services and my internet provider, provide adequate blockage of such crap. Someone out there is dumb enough to succomb to this crap and that is why you have to put up with it. They (the originators of this dung) are playing the numbers game. If you put out 300 billion pieces of ***** some stupid *** will fall for a percentage of it and that is what keeps it alive.

Spam filters on Hotmail and Yahoo are great things. I may get 5 a month on Yahoo and 12 a month on Hotmail. I have only seen one with my address referring to old tractors. I figure some spam bot used a keyword search looking for addresses. Its best just to ignore them if you get one. Confirming a valid address to them means more than the actual message body you send back. One step further is to report it to the servers that relayed it to you. I don't know of any service that allows spam to be sent from one of their user accounts.

Thats funny Dave that you say a good email helps out in blocking stuff like that.. The reason why its funny is that the email that i use an account with the University of Connecticut you would think that paying 9+ grand a year that it would block this crap haha, i guess 9 grand doesnt get you much now a days lol

Thanks everyone!

Andrew

The problem with good spam blockers is that it sometimes blocks even the valid emails. If you are in a university, they want to be sure that you get job offers, ect. and most do not block messsages for that reason. The best defense is to utilize the free ones that are agressive in blocking the junk. My regular email is only provided after I respond to the original message 2 times. Otherwise, no deal.

My favorite is the IRS wants to give my bank account a refund if I will just send them my bank information. My next favorite is that I have missed jury duty and if I will give them my credit card information so they can fine me. I want have to go to jail. Asked them what the jail was serving that day that it may be better than we had at home. If so come get me. Do not get too many replies. :P

Write back and tell her send the cash (green stuff) by way of the shipper and then you can talk about selling.
