Here's what might be a foolish question, but I don't have any other kind. When you see a market quote of,say $108-109.50 for feeder cattle,is that 500 pounds? I know lighter feeders sell higher, heavier, lower. Most quotes I see don't give different prices for different weights.

Feeder contrats on the board are 600 lbers and a load would be 50,000 lbs

OK thanks, that's what I was looking for. Guess I wasn't as clear as I should have been. I should have said "feeder cattle futures". I just didn't know if they were trading 500 pounders,600 pounders,an average of 5-800 or what. Thanks.

When you see the quote for live cattle, that is the market steers. Like they post every morning on the Ag Day program, I don't know if you get that over there on that side of the state, but channel 47 out of Lansing broadcast it and they also run along the bottom of the screen with the feeder market. I notice that the CME or CBot prices all seem to be higher than they are around here.

I go to United Producers website everyday. uproducers.com. I'm a member, sell all my fats through them. If you want actual prices here in Michigan, just click market results, they have them for all locations including St Louis,Cass City and Manchester.

that is $108 per a hundred pounds and the feeders ussually are considered to be that 500-800 pound range.

I was just curious. I finish all of my calves so the only thing that really matters to me is the fat cattle market. But,like I said,I usually only see one feeder price posted.
