We have working draft horses so I love RH TV. I also like the old tractor and equipment shows. I wish there was more of this and less polka and Brazil Ag reports or what ever.

I'm not big on the my pretty pony club shows but they have a lot more to do with rural TV than a NYC disk jockey does.

All the hobby horse shows are what pays the bills so RFD tv can stay on the air. I have seen two other "farm" channels go broke and gone because they could not attract enough advertizer $$ from "real" farmers. Believe me, they need the "pet horse" viewers money to survive.
If you enjoy some of the farm or tractor related shows on RFD tv,you need to have two things, a $30 subscription to RFD tv and a VCR.
The $30 subscription will give RFD tv more operating money to buy more tractor related shows and give you the guide so you can set the VCR to record the shows you want, You can then view them at a convenient time, or watch it again any time you want it.

BILL in IL, are you sure you dont get RFD in Dish Network ? They changed channels a few months ago, went to channel 231 but all in my area still get it. Maybe you get a different programming package than I but all here in my neighborhoon in Northern IL still get it at no extra charge. I agree with most, far too much horse shows and not enuf tractor and machinery.

Too many horses and not enough tractors, and to top it off, they are not farm work horses. They are mostly ( play ) or riding horses, not really farm horses. I do like the tractor & machinery shows, also the shop related stuff. I do like the old country music shows & would like to see some newer shows also but maybe it's because they just don't make em like that any more.

I orignaly got cable TV to watch RFD, Then realized there were only a few different videos that they play every other day. Way beyond sad. Foreign down under horse crap. Cattle auctions with a auctioneer that has a speach problem and never graduated from grade school because he never learned to speak, He can mumble at high speeds however. Not to mention he should spit out his wad before trying.

RFD now has I man, apparently he thinks his rear end is one of the no stink type. I will give him a lot of credit for his donations to the less advantaged, something our government has not taken responsability for. Gee when I woke up this morning I wasn't crankey, thanks now maybe I got it out of my system.

Conclusion to your question, RFD is just as good as the el cheap o PAID PROGRAMING THAT OVER POWERS THE TV NOW DAYS, sucks big time!

I like some of the shows, but there are now way too many horse shows. I don"t like the addition of the Imus show either - I used to watch RFD to avoid that type of show. Unfortunately, they will be adding more programming to appeal to an urban audience. I have read they are trying to get more exposure in urban markets.

Not enough tractors and too much Imus.

I do still watch it when I can find a tractor show on there or some of the other ag news shows.

I enjoy RFD. I like the Draft Horse and Mule Segments,Trains,Tractor Pulling and the Classic Tractor Shows even tho most if not all Segments are from Canada, wonder why that is? I like some of the Country Western shows and have been known to watch some of the Cattle Auctions. Overall as it does not cost extra it is a worth while offering from DTV.However I too think they go over board with the Horse Dressage ETC.There is some Comercialization Segments you could not pay me to watch such as John Deere! What a bore and Max Armstrong is okay most of the time but Oren Samuelson,I have never liked listening to him and I know he is a widely respected Ag Newscaster,But?

There are some ag/tractor shows, country music (Midwest Country, Penny Gilley, etc), Heartland Highways, Bluegrass and Backroads, some train shows and a lot of horse shows. Horses pay the bills so there is more of them than anything else. For all of that it is still the best station on TV unless you're into Hollywood stuff. I'm not.

Dish network changed out plan and took RFD away from us. Bunch of BS for them to be able to change a plan like that cause when we signed up it was in there. I called to complain by after 15 min of voice menu and on hold frustration I gave up cause I had better things to do.
They do have some good tractor pulling on there though that I miss and the antique tractor shows.... the few that you could find. The rest is garbage.

It's fine if you are a horse lover(nothing against these people) but if RFD would play as much old tractors as they due horses you would see the other folks complaining too. Sure don't want to pay for a magazine that won't due anything to solve the problem. Good thing they have Polka Joe's old time once in awhile

It appears that they have made a deal with the NATPA and only show their national pulling. I enjoy it but their is a lot of pulling besides NATPA. They use to show Sugar Farm pulls and other tractor pull shows but I haven't seen one in months yet when they opened their theater they wanted show tractors. The machinery of the past is all old Canadian junk.

Classic Tractors show is still on. They just recycled a bunch of old Classic Tractor Fever shows. Right now they're showing Aummans Album. The one thing that ticked me off was when they filmed a lot of stuff at the Hart Parr Oliver Collectors show in South Dakota a few years back, then only showed 20 minutes or so of all the stuff they filmed.

EXTRA? You must be one of those unfortunate folks to have Dish network. It's basic on Direct TV. There are shows that I wouldn't want to be without,This Week In Agribusiness,Georgia Farm Monitor,Farmweek,This Week In Louisiana Agriculture,Ag PHD,NTPA Pulling... My sister in law switched from Direct to Dish to save something like $2 a month. My brother is afraid to cross her,but says there is no sense even watching television anymore,no channels on it worth watching at all. I couldn't believe RFD wasn't on there anymore,it was when they first switched. But I was up there one night recently, said turn it to RFD and let's watch Tractor Pulling. NO RFD! What a rip off.

It's nice also to see Old Willie Nelson with hair!
