Thanks to all who answered My questions on the gas Lines and Weight in the Tires....Got another one I need help with. I've got a chance to buy a 8 foot disc, 3 point hookup, at a good price. Will My 504 Diesel handle a disc this big....by handle I mean gettin' it in and out of the ground, pulin'it buryed pretty deep, so on, so forth? I recently bought a 16 foot chisel plow, I was told the 504 couldn't handle it so I cut it down to 9 feet, so I could haul it hooked to the tractor on My trailer. I own a Blacksmith shop...Is it feasible to cut this disc down to what the 504 could handle if 8 foot is too big.
Thanks,
Wild Bill

Boy I think your going to have trouble pulling that chisel with a 504. It should handle the disk fine tho. I have a 12 ft, 9 shank Deere disk chisel that gives my 150HP+ Deere 7810 front wheel assist tractor a real workout in some soils. I had a 504 gasser for years. It would pull kind of inbetween a Super H and Super M. My gasser pulled ok if the rpm was kept up but it had no low end grunt like the H and M do. I mostly hauled poop and raked hay with mine.

We narrowered the chisel plow a few weeks back, hadn't had time to hook up yet....Tractor runs good, needs gauges, glow plugs, few wirein' problems, But nothin' major. We centered up on the chisel plow frame, moved in 6in. from each end, cut out a 3ft.peice on each end, welded the end pieces back on. Three springs with plow points on front beam, two on back beam, splittin' the difference between the front three. As You can tell, I don't know much about farmin'....When I was a kid, late 40s early 50s We raise cotton ran a few cows, corn, and a big truck patch.Last 20 years I've been playin' with a Farmall A and a Super A, workin' 4 or more acres in the spring. From what some HANDS tell Me I've built up a hardpan from not plowin' deep enough. If I get everything goin' this spring I'll try maybe 10 acres, Organic as possible.
I appreciate The way You HANDS have helped Me out on this Forum....If You need info on Weldin' Machinein',Forgein',heat treatin',Gun buildin'...Maybe I can help.
Thanks Wild Bill

Bill: The 504 will easily handle the 8' disk. It will pick the disk up well, but you will have to exercise caution when turning quickly. I assume this is a tandem disk, and the main problem with mounted disks there is a lot of weight quite far from rear tractor axle.

Years ago, I pulled an 8' trailer disk with Farmall 300, no real problems pulling it, but I don't think I would have liked it if it had been mounted. I'm into the same thing today with my 130 and 140, most of my implements are 5' to 6' mounted, and the one I have to use caution with is my 5.5' tandem disk. I have 2 - 6' cultivators and a 7' rotary hoe, 40 gallon sprayer, 500lb. fertilizer spreader and two bottom plow. I often wish that disk were trailer with a remote cylinder.

I went from that 8' trailer behind the 300 to close to 11' behind 560 and 656 in the 60s and a 22' behind the 1066 in the 70s. I don't think I would have liked any of them mounted.

The 504 will handle that disk fine. The chisel is another matter. That little 4 banger will die on one that big.

Been using an eight foot wheel type for years with 504 gas. No problems at all. You shouldn't have any problems unless the disc is super heavy. Then hang some weight out front.

I'm pulling a 10' Long harrow buried fairly deep with a John Deere 630. Slow but steady. If you plan on pulling a 9' chisel plow, post pictures. Either you haven't got many shanks on that plow, or you don't plan to pull it much deeper than your harrow. Our 7' 7 Shank plow is a tough sell on that 630 in soft land. We drop it all the way down past 12" in clay dirt and I can stall a 100+ Horse tractor easy, not even counting that grain drill hooked behind it. Don't mean to ramble, I suspect if you ain't in a hurry, an 8' disc and a 504 is a good match.
