What are the scrap prices in your area. I hauled in an od crown vic and got .076/lb. Copper was #1-$2.40,#2-$2.10. I didn"t ask the price of scrap since they were busy. Anyone else seen an increase in their area?

Fire is how we get the covering off for the better price for number one price on wire. Your scrape dealers is cutting your neck.

if you are getting #1 for burnt copper you are lucky or the attendant is clueless on what #1 copper is only clean copper is #1 and burnt is not #1 paint or any other coating makes it less than #1 burning the insulation off is not a healthy means to get a better price you can get a small piece of conduit that you can open the crack put a razor blade in it and clamp it in a vise so that you can feed the wire thru it and then peal the coating off then you get the best price for it.

Been cleaning out my neighbors farm. Got 7.00 a 100 for trucks, 6.50 a 100 for light iron, 10.00 a 100 for prepared. Hauled 26 loads the past 3 days about 100 left to haul.

The copper had been in a fire so I wasn't going to get the best price.

i hauled in an elevator and crimper last year it was .060 a pound which is pathetic.

Now, if i had listed it as light steel, that would be a lot more, but they called the stuff i had as "mixed"

I would check around on the copper price before you sell next time unless the copper still had the covering.
