I got to thinking last night about this concept and wondered if any of you had tried it. I read about some of you putting antifreeze and water or like old and his windshield washer fluid in tires for ballast. I was wondering if any of these less corrosive fluids could be used with a leak stopping compound like slime. I have used stuff like slime in the past with good luck, but it washes off with water. If it was in a tire with a liquid solution would it be deluted to the point that it would no longer be an effective leak stopper? I know the right thing to do is just fix the leaks as they happen, but I use my WD in areas that have Locust trees with huge thorns. It is not if I will get a thorn in a tire, it is when!

Check these guys, they say.

"Can I use MULTI-SEAL in water-filled tires? MULTI-SEAL CORPORATION is the only sealant manufacturer that offers a product that is designed for use in water-filled tires. It is aptly named “HYDRO-SEAL”. Sealants designed for air-filled tires will separate when diluted with water, thus making the sealant ineffective. Furthermore, sealants for pneumatic tires do not contain enough fibers to be truly effective in water. HYDRO-SEAL is designed to overcome these obstacles. Additionally, HYDRO-SEAL is designed to be fully compatible with anti-freeze. It does not matter if the antifreeze is ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, or calcium chloride."

Thanks for the info. I checked them out and I sent a request to them for pricing and dealers in my area.

That's good thinking, CWL. Ballast and puncture resistance in one. Been thinking about those self sealing tanks used in fighter aircraft. That technology is old and surely could be adapted. But how to implement?

I will keep chewing on it.

it will dilute the slime and make it useless. i have a lot of hawthorne trees with the huge spikes, and boy can they give you flats!!!! the mowing tractors use around em have slime and weights. pia to pump em and patch em. i keep an extra front tire/rim and spare rear tire/rim ready to go, so i swap the flat out and patch it later.
